Hi guys,
I'm David and I'm from Germany.
I will be approximately in Melbourne on the 13th May. I would like to go to the Grampians to climb, but I don't know if it's possible to go alone there and how to find some climbing mates. I'm shy, so yeah, I'm a bit concerned about that.
Is there anybody who could help me or even take me with you climbing? It would be really awesome if it would work out. I would like to stay there for one or two weeks.
I have my own climbing stuff, except of a rope and quickdraws. I am a very enthusiastic climber and I've been climbing for almost 6 years now. I'm more in bouldering than climbing but I really like both so it doesn't matter. I boulder up to 8a, I think it is 29 in Australian scale. Since I've been in Australia quite a while I haven't been able to be in an excellent form but I think I will be get back there pretty fast.
I would really appreciate your help, so many thanks in advance!
Cheers, David!

So you have a helmet, harness and shoes, or you're bringing a trad rack?

The easiest spot to meet people is The Pines campground at Mount Arapiles, about 45 minutes further west than the Grampians themselves. It's more traditional roped climbing than sport climbing or bouldering (though there is some great bouldering too). People often do day trips down to the Grampians from Arapiles.
