I hung the booty up on my verandah to scare the birds away . . .

Most booty hunters get it off the cliff, but I have to admit that the base of Ozy is as good a booty spot as any.

For those interested, the lads were off Defender and back at Catani by nightfall yesterday.

+1
The weekend just gone is the first time I have met him in person.
Yeah, he is a Queenslander, but I can easily forgive that!
Heh, heh, heh.
~> ... and he certainly has a wealth of aiding experience plus a knowledge of self rescue/rescue generally, backed up by first hand experience; that was a valuable contribution to the weekend's proceedings.
Plus, he was prepared to (and did), drive from Qld to Mt Buffalo to contribute those skills to the Aidfest.

I'm kinda bummed I didn't get more of a chance to pick Phil's brain.

... Yeah, fancy sleeping in on the day after a 24 hour ascent of Ozy Direct.
Shame on you!

Cool Ben, another Solo-Aidists is always welcome . . .
Maybe we should go soloing on the North Wall together sometime . ..

Good to meet a whole new diverse bunch of great people interested in this other-side of the sport of climbing - feel free to follow up anything with me if you want . . .

Congrats to the various North Wall teams - you were certainly entertaining and we could tell you were having a time of your life . . .

Will start looking at possible dates to hold a similar thing up here sometime in the new year - including a day on the Dog . . .

Cheers

;-)

The usual Cacophonic, Thanksgiving, and Cream, at Disabled on Sat.
Simultaneously Ozy Direct in a day on Sat.
Faust, Loose Fit, and a new route extension to Damning My Soul, at Devils on Sunday.
Then Defender on Mon/Tues.

Testing for picture-size uploads for upcoming TR...

Macca I plan to hold you to your winter suggestion.

I've had some equally good thoughts for possible plans since then as well . . .

How about 'The Nose on The North Wall' where one climbs 900m before topping out??
Or 'Ozy in a Day - House to House' (Pretty easy from Melbourne, Harder from Sydney)??

Not necessarily in winter, but fun objectives all the same . . ..

I'm surprised you didn't just suggest a girdle traverse

A Girdle, I can't believe I forgot a girdle . . . (Route name???)

Say starting from the SouthSide Lookouts and go all the way round to Wilkinsons and beyond . . .

Or 'River To Rivets' - kinda like Sea to Summit , but you start down in the river in Porepunkah and go to the bolts at the top of the final pitch of Ozy then descend. Oh and you have to do it solo, walking an carrying all your gear of course . . .

Any other great ideas??

PS. Congrats to the Defenders team - hope to hear a trip report .. . .

Gold. Pure Buffalo Gold.

Thanks so much for posting that, and congrats on getting up the thing. Sounds like you got your full value out of your two days up there!

Was great to meet you last weekend.

Added a few more pics.

Thanks to all at the weekend, Ben, Hugh, the Phils, Pat, Pei and everyone, and of course the mentors M9, Macca, and Phil Box. And Neil as well for Defender beta. It was a great trip!

I reckon by the next aid weekend I'll be ready for Ozy Direct. Just have to climb better in every way...
