French climber looking for climbing partners
12:50:09 AM
I'll arrive to Sydney the 7 of december and I'll leave from Sydney to France the 28 of february. I'll make this trip with my wife and my baby (4 months old).
During this time my wife and me want to climb on australian rocks but it's difficult together with the baby. So I'm looking for climbing partners.
We'll go with a van around Sydney, Arapiles, grampians and Tasmania depending of opportunities. Our climbing level is 20 and we like much multipitch routs but also top rope. We are used to climb trad abroad and we have all necessary equipments (rope, cams, harness,...).
See you soon.

with 4 month old please be very aware of potential hot weather , 41.4 C at horsham yesterday with ouyen at an all time record November 45.8 C, an airconditioned car may be fine for the front occupants but the back can still be hot , camping could be bad with such a young child/ Fortunately these hot days dont last for many days before a cool change goes through

Bonjour Nicolas.
J'habite ici depuis 25 ans. Je connais le coin.

You should have no trouble with the bub if you stick to kid friendly, South facing summer crags; buy a pop up baby tent to keep the flies, mossies, leeches, snakes, ticks and spiders off baby; and avoid really hot days. The best baby friendly crag in Sydney is Middle Cove ... a 5 metre walk from the car and very quiet so baby can sleep. It's a micro crag with a few easy routes and easy top access.

Hmm ......traveling from France to climb at Middle cove..pretty sure its not on their intended tick list :)

Hey Nicolas,
Inoubliable.Moi j'suis accro.
A bientot

Hi climbers

First thank you for your messages.
We'll spend few days to Sydney, so why not Middle Cove. So I'm also looking for climbers living in Sydney.
After, we'll head for Arapiles. So I'll contact you as soon as I know when I will be there.
Arriving to Sydney, I'll have a mobile phone and an australian phone number. Could you let me know your phone number. So it would be easier to contact you.

Hey Nicolas,

Enjoy Middle Cove

Rod's right in that Middle Cove isn't exactly spectacular but it's as baby friendly as it gets. Nicolas says they like multipitch trad but it would be a tad tricky with a baby.
Second most kid friendly spot in Sydney I'd say is Narrabeen Steep Side, mornings only in summer. About a 50 m walk. The new fence now poses no obstacle after some mods. Several perfectly flat areas set up for babies in baby tents. Some classic routes. Bangor or Dam Cliffs are also a possibility if you have a baby carrier to get in.

I'd say arapiles due to its acceeability of partners, point perpendicular as it is a perfect abseil in and toperope out cliff and freycient as its pretty bloody nice. All these places have the whole rang of accomodation options.
