I very much enjoy the fact that you assume because i'm an aussie chick that number 1: I actually drink alcohol at all which i do very infrequently and its certainly not beer, 2: that I would have tattoos, listen to something as pathetic as nickelback or drink bourbon... actually I'm a fit, and friendly person, I have a post graduate degree in cardiology and I DO take offense to you basically calling me an uneducated drunken bogan when you have no idea who the hell I am.
And as far as outdoor climbing goes, I'm pretty sure I never mentioned that i wasn't able or willing, all i said was i dont have the gear, and not a whole lot of experience, but considering I'm not an idiot, I'm pretty sure I'll manage to keep up.

I think climbing with the drunken bogan sounds better. I DO take offense to your mentioning of being an "aussie" chick. Why should we care if you're an "aussie" chick? You could be an African chick, an Asian chick, a zyborg chick with one of them funny halogens on your forehead..... Doesn't matter, as long as you're a chick.

Nothing wrong with the bit in bold describes an aussie chick I know quite well actually (I almost spat my juice on the screen with laughter when I read the bit about pre mixed bourbon and coke)

As for the bit underlined, that's an awfully big call, there's plenty of people on this forum I couldn't keep up with outdoors ...

Good job on biting back though :)

Honestly, I wouldn't get offended by anything written by someone whose name is "Will P" ;)

That's just silly. Reading through many other threads, people seem to mention their nationality when introducing themselves, obviously it's more prevalent in foreigners posts, none the less it wasn't inappropriate of her to state that. Why should you take offence to that? Australia's a multicultural country, so the term 'Aussie' is quite broad. I don't go around calling myself Italian, I identify myself as Australian, especially after travelling, there is nothing wrong in that.

I wouldn't dream of describing myself as an "Aussie chick" although strictly speaking, it would be accurate. I guess it depends on how patriotic you are, how much your nationality defines your sense of identity and how much you want to relate to stereotypes. All of the above run pretty low on my list. I'd say Horsham is fairly well endowed in both "Aussie chicks" and "Aussie blokes" and I tend to refrain from hanging out with either. It also creates an aura of internet dating!

But back on topic - I don't quite understand, some guy in Sydney wants a climbing partner and is innundated with responses, some girl in Melb asks the same and no takers!!!!! Don't any of you guys complain about the lack of women in climbing circles!

Sarah, if you have you own basic kit and can belay, if you turn up in the Pines over Xmas/New Years, I would be flabbergasted if you didn't find a selection of willing climbing partners. If none of the guys are up for anything (or are all boring, annoying twats ...), go chat with the camp host, Lee, she's really friendly and capable and restricted to climbing moderate stuff at the moment by a knee injury. Or pay a guide to teach you a bit more stuff and take you up some cool routes until you feel confident to find your own climbing partners. I'm happy to take you out for a day if you decide to go along that path. PM me if interested.

Be aware that there are plenty of numpties out there who have a much greater sense of their ability and skills than is realistic and if you have any doubts about potential partners, find someone else instead. Good luck and have fun.
