Looking for boulderers Jan/Feb

Hello there,

I'm one of those obsessive bouldering types. I come from England, where there are lots of us. Are they any in Australia? And more to the point, is there anyone who fancies some bouldering at any time from mid jan to end of feb? I know it's summer, but that's my window, and dammit, I'm going bouldering.

Current plan is to buy a car and hit the Grampians. Early starts and shady spots to beat the heat. Keen for everything and anything V0 to V11. Would be great to have some company.

Another possibility is to climb in Tasmania for a while, but only if I can find someone else up for an adventure for a week or two. I'm quite happy to rough it and hike in search of boulders - I get the impression that there could be some fun exploration to do in Tassie. And it should be a bit cooler I guess.

Or if anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know!

Cheers
-Robin

I'm also a Uker from Cornwall arrive Canberra tomorrow (11/12/10) and there for 2 weeks at least. I'd very much like to be shown round and do stuff. Got all gear, rack, ropes and car. Lead HVS / E1 UK trad. Was out at Berowra last Monday. We have granite in Cornwall!!

He did. He said he leads around HVS/E1 which is about 18 - 20 in our grades.

Yeah, I'm still mostly bouldering but I have lost my driver's licence until August which has slowed me down considerably.

I'm actually thinking about dusting off the harness soon and seeing if I can remember how to tie into a rope.

Keen to get up to Black Range this summer. It's one of the few places I know that is generally cool enough to boulder in mid-summer.

The Organic pad is a total winner. First thing I did when I got it was fall from the very top of a highball out at Tarana. Took the wind out of me and I had to change my undies but I was completely unscathed besides that.

No, Tarana is out Lithgow way. I wish it was near Goulburn. IIt's an awesome place. Quickest way there from down this way is to take the Taralga Road from Goulburn and go through Oberon. The road is now sealed the entire way.

Getting to Black Range from Goulburn is easy. Drive to Bungendore and then keep going through to Hoskinstown, take a left to Forbes Creek and keep going straight. You're there. It takes just over 1 hour.

My 2 wheel drive van gets to Black Range no probs, although after all this rain, who knows what the condition of the road will be.

I imagine it wouldn't be. My van does, at least, have pretty good clearance.

I am all up for any climbing I can get my hands on. A bouldering partner or trad who is keen on scaling some classics. I'm guessing in Aussie grades I'm working about 18-20 (English VS 4c as comfortable grade)
I'm in the Blue Mountains till the New Years but if there is climbing to be done then I'll stick around.

Super keen but only got shoes and chalk atm. If I can share gear with someone then game on!

Just email or phone

Cheers for the heads up Scott. Will I need to get my hands on a harness? And any chance some of you are coming through Katoomba? Just pushing my luck!

Sorry Cornishman. User-ID Nufel is now disabled and the spam post with link to a menu deleted, even though it partially referred to climbing i.e.
>climbing after work...I love IT

He may love it, but I hate spam.

Hello again. The weather seems to be a little against the grampians at the moment. Having investigated prices I'm also not sure I can afford a car + pads + camping gear + petrol. Unless anyone else would like to head out climbing for a week (or four)? Maybe if someone has a car, I could buy some pads/tent/etc. Open to ideas and eager to get out of the city.

I read on another thread that stapylton area might be opening up soon, so I'd been keen to go when it does. Anyone feel like a trip?

Failing that, if anyone is heading to Arapiles or anywhere else exciting, I'm up for some climbing and happy to contribute to costs. Currently based in Melbourne, so if anyone is setting out from round here, I'd love to hear from you.

Fingers are itchy. Need some rock!

Hey r-man I am based at Arapiles at the moment with a couple of mates. We have pads and stuff so if you want to boulder come to the big beige and green canvas tent in the pines man! There are a few ok harder problems around but the Gramps sh1ts on them! Not old enough for a licence so cant drive to the gramps but willing to walk there if I have too. 100 POUND CLUB!!!!!!!
