classics.

Worst sci fi flick - think it was called Battle beyond the Stars, the Magnificient 7 set in Space with Robert Vaughan, John Saxon, and George Peppard.

George Peppard was in the ATeam wasn't he? How could a movie with the leader of the ATeam be bad?

He was also in Breakfast at Tiffanies - those lousy actors; they'll do anything for a fee.

Next time, I'll put in a trip report on my latest outing to my local cinema and grade the movie using the Ewbank system...

Interesting concept. Heh, heh, heh.
Also interesting that mikl tried to start a thread to deviate the hijack away from your Trip Report, but as is often usual on Chocky, the hijackers would have none of it!

I actually think the cinema is like trad climbing and the english system could be more appropriate due to the objective dangers; getting thrown out for drinking, getting thrown out for peeing in the coke cup, getting thrown out for boistress laughter, sitting next to a family or heavy petters etc.

The Ewbank system works much better for dvds.

Actually, the beautiful old B bouldering system works best for DVD.

DVD1 Everyone's seen it.
DVD2 Only a few people have seen it.
DVD3 Only one person has watched it, and can't watch it again.

As the big book of problems did so well, using film content warnings to describe boulder problems. So forget your V1s V2s etc use the following descriptors.

Frequent Course Language

Adult themes

Violence

Horror

Parental Guidance Required

There are only two kinds of movies. Those with boobies and those without. You do not need any rating system. Just keep it simple. One symbol is all you need.

Why do they grade bra's in so many sizes then?

Does George Clonney count as a booby? Or is that a twat?

I like boobies and twats. I disapprove of the use of female anatomy in the pejorative. Better off describing George Clooney as a dick or dickhead.

Now, you're assuming I don't like George Clooney. In fact it is you who has added the pejorative sense to my words. Perhaps in your subconscious you don't actually like them.

Invoice for therapy attached.

Yeah, 5th Element is rock and roll! I thought it was marginal sci fi, more like an action flick with Bruce doin' what Bruce does best (what the fcuk was he thinking with 6th Sense?)

Will have to watch Brazil. I rate 12 Monkeys among my favorite films of all time (sci fi?) but was so shitted by Baron Munchauson that I swore I'd never sit through another of Terry's creations! Sounds like Brazil is the one to see though.

I saw Logan's Run when I was too young to get it, have since assumed it was cheap 80's crap. Is it worth a revisit?

I have to agree. I saw that at the movies hwen I was 12. I thought it sucked, even then. I think it was only on a the movies for three and a half days.

Black Hole was pretty good, even though it was made by Disney. There's a great blue at the end between the bashed around, good robot and the schmicko evil robot. They both look a bit like garbage bins with eyes.

I guess you better get off you arse and see La Jetée. Gilliam's film is a retelling of Marker's story.
