Hi @ all!
Perhaps you wonder why I am writing such a post... well, I've just arrived in Australia two days ago, still jetlaged. --> I'm not able to sleep though it's 2.30 am already. So why not writing a post about climbing in Europe. (and hope to find some climbing partners here in Australia!) :-)
Well, I am from Germany. Let's say from the southern part, near Stuttgart. I think the most famous climbing spot in Germany is the Frankenjura. You can find mainly steep climbing there with a lot of one and two finger holes. You can find such famous routes like Action Directe (wow, I tell you... if you see it, you won't believe anybody climbing up this piece of rock...), Ghettoblaster and Sautanz there. Everybody can find loads of routes in every grades in the Frankenjura, so if you're on a trip to Germany, you have to go there!
In winter (that means Dec to March in Germany...) we often go to France. It's an about 8 hour drive... In the Provence there are that many climbing spots that it is impossible to visit them all in a lifetime! My favourite spots are Verdon (what a feeling to abseil down first time!) and not as well known Presles near Grenoble. You can do a lot of multi pitch climbing there.
So if anybody needs information about Europe climbing (Germany, France, Italy and Spain) you are more than welcomed to contact me!
Now I am here in Australia. Will be here till the middle of February. I am doing an internship here in Melbourne and hope to get the chance to climb a lot!
If you search for a climbing partners or if you let me join your climbing group, I would be very glad if you contact me! Search parnter to climb in the Melbourne gyms during the week and to go to the Grampians and Arap at the weekends! I climb up to 7b (about 24-25 in Austrlia I guess?!?).
Hope to hear from you!
Best, Achim
