Just had the best week up at Araps, Climbed classics such as Decibel, Stentor, Cantata and Libretto. Then there was the hidden gems like creeping green chinese crud- Short but fun and Four sticks ( Actually talked to the first accessionist that morning without realising to afterwards). With the good came the shit though, Sues climb and Kamikaze, wandering crap and definately a 1 move wonder. Suprised myself with a clean toprope of Ephemeral such an awesome climb.
Had a rest day with the family, chinese lunch at horsham followed by the best game of mini golf ever. More fun than you can poke a putter at. The restaurant and mini golf are over the bridge heading back to melbourne on the RH side
For all of you staying at Araps For a while, find Simey and volunteer yourself for a game of footy on a saturday, I did and it was great fun. The clubs a bit short on players and if you can muster up a jog and manage to connect the ball with your foot then youll love it.
the opposition quickly work out that your a climber not a footy player and take it pretty easy on you.

Glad you enjoyed it Mick.

For those that aren't familiar with the Natimuk footy team... well things have been pretty tough for us over the last few years. The Senior team are struggling, but the Reserves team (which Mick played in) are having an even tougher time. They have kicked a combined total this season of 61. That means they are averaging less than one goal a game and have a current percentage of 2.78.

Prior to the game which Mick played, the coach offered $100 to be spent on the bar if the boys could manage ten scoring shots for the day (can be goals or behinds). The boys kicked 1.4 so they they were half-way there. That little offer still stands. So get a few mates, have a run with the Rams and I promise you won't forget the experience.

The remaining matches for the season are...

July 15 Natimuk v Kalkee

July 22 Taylors Lake v Natimuk

July 29 Natimuk v Stawell Swifts

Aug 5 Laharum v Natimuk

Aug 12 Natimuk v Harrow-Balmoral

The team whose name appears first is the ground at which the game will be played. Reserves matches kick off around 12.30pm so you would need to be there by around 11.45am.

Leave a message on this thread if you are interested.

Simey, I hope you get more bodies on the field. Sounds like a fun way to run around a paddock for a couple of hours...

I really don't understand why climbers don't seem to like team sports.

Climbing, is the grey area between team and solo sports, the team memeber in climbing is only needed if you screw up, so the partner is realy just a reserve.

Bob Saki - If you get a car load for the day, I might be keen to share petrol money and come up to play!

My skills will be ridiculously rusty but I can run all day!

Bob, Dalai... sounds great. Just let us know when you think you would be available.

Dalai, do you think you could talk Andrew Connolly into a game?

I also recall Simon Whelan and Ross Taylor saying they would play some time. It would be good to line up all the climbers to play in the same game.

Rugby Union FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR !!

On the topic of team sports. i suck at them hence one of the many reasons i got into climbing. No idiots abusing u cos u tried ur best but still didn't win.
Team Sports are good when everything is just for fun, but when it gets slightly serious everything goes downhill.

Well I agree that I am a dinosaur, but I'll more than likely be playing in the firsts (which gives you some idea of why Nati are struggling). That means I will be watching the reserves game from the sidelines and coming out during the quartertime breaks to give you boys a pat on the bum. Not to mention being in the changerooms before the game to do some male bonding and be a part of the pre-game psych-up.

PS. I'll take some photos too and then post them on Chockstone.
