A terrific new cliff has been found in the Fingal Valley and is being developed mainly by Andrew Martin, Ingvar Lidman and myself. Bob McMahon and I actually climbed in this area 30 years ago, but this sector eluded us - only 100m to the left - dopeys!

Cliff looks good, but a little perplexed at how close some of the bolts are... I.e. locked in the Coal Mine - 24 photo and Gerry on fa of 24 it looks like a bolt per metre or even less!

According to one of the developers, and I quote : "Access is a bitch".

Hullo Kieren, did you talk to Steve Greig? The initial access that Steve, Ingvar and myself used was a one hour bush bash from over at Bare Rock, but now we have found a logging road that will get us to a 15 minute flat walk to the cliff. Access is now a breeze. If we can get a key to the boom gate at the coal mine, we can be there in 15 minute drive from Fingal, otherwise its a bit of a maze of logging roads, about 45 mins from the highway. The road is accessible, with care, to all vehicles, even Ingvars shitbox Hyundai Getz. And there is a nice campsite.
As for closely placed bolts, the photo is foreshortened, but the first few are pretty close on that 24 - don't want to deck out on the insecure and technical first 5m, so taking advantage of the very few clipping holds.
