Well, there were unfortunately a few misfired starts with various partners but we've finally completed the iCrag Blue Mountains - Selected Sport Climbs app. It's based on the iCrag Arapiles and iCrag Melbourne code climbers are familiar with.

We've included 500+ routes at the 10 most popular and accessible Blueys sport crags and are selling it at about $10. The price seems to change with the $AUS and at Apple's whim.

It is currently on iPhone (and iPod touch and works on iPads) but within a couple of weeks we expect to complete the Android version and make that available also. To find the iPhone version, do a search on the App Store under iCrag Blue Mountains or find it here...

There's been an enormous amount of work that has gone into this app with as per usual, bugger all financial payback expected so we hope people like it. It gives us a buzz to hear stories of how much the apps are enjoyed. As with all the apps we have done, these are live things and we are happy for feedback that allows us to update and improve them with the latest info. Updates are provided for free to those who have purchased the app, of course.

Happy climbing, Eddy & Cam.

Do you have a complete list of crags that are in the guide? How easy is it to fix mistakes/corrections/new routes - will be something forever evolving or will a new version come out every few years or so? Let us know when the Android version becomes available!

Hi Neil,

We typically save fixes if they are not serious for the updates. If they are serious we do them immediately. They're not too difficult to do. Updates come out at various times and depends on the crag and what's available. As an illustration, I think we're onto our 4th iCrag Araps version in three years? We've lost count.

The ten Blueys crags selected are the obvious ones and it leaves us with plenty of opportunity to expand the app later. They are currently; Diamond Falls, Medlow Bath, Shipley Upper, Centennial Glen, Porters Pass, Logan Brae, Boronia Point, Bardens Lookout, Dam Cliffs and Bowens Creek. In the updates we'll target the likes of The Freezer, Cosmic County, etc. Actually, if we got requests from users we could use that as the basis to select any new crags. Although, I'd like to focus on some of the lower graded climbs if possible.

I should've mentioned in my original post that as is the case with all guidebooks, we have researched from a number of various sources and we've mentioned them in the app. But I'd like to also mention them here. They of course include the various Carter and Pircher guides but also the websites crag.com, climb.org.au and of course chockstone.org. We hope our iCrag app (many man-years of work in the making) can add quality and choice for climbers to the already great guides out there.

Android is actually finished. We're just de-bugging it now. Will post when it is done.

Just a quick reminder to everyone who has purchased the Blueys Sport app... please email us with any feedback both positive and negative. Also if you find any changes at the crag or errors and omissions in the app. The beauty of an app is we can update it reasonably regularly and push out that update to the community.

And in particular, if you have thoughts on which climbing areas to include in future updates of the Blueys app please let us know. Ta.
