What's open in the Grampians?

Just wondering who's been in the Grampians lately and knows what's accessible up there at the moment. My understanding is that North is closed but there's still access to climbs in the South? I'm an intermediate climber (or beginner-intermediate with trad) and am wondering what crags I can get onto over the Easter Break.

Thanks for any help peeps!

There's hundreds if not thousands of crags in the Grampians, you'll have to be a bit more specific.

There's loads of information out there to help you figure out what's closed and what's not.

First place I'd look is the map on page 3 of Parks' update. If it's outside the red bit, it's not closed due to the fire (though it might be closed for other, longer standing reasons): http://parkweb.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0003/621246/Grampians-National-Park-Update.pdf

Probably worth looking at the road report too and checking the access to your selected crag (eg. Henham track which gives access to Dreamtime is again listed as open): http://parkweb.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0005/320558/Grampians_Road_Report.pdf

For future reference, both of these are linked on the Parks site here: http://parkweb.vic.gov.au/explore/parks/grampians-national-park

http://cliffcare.org.au/ has up dates for specific crags, eg that Emu Foot Track is closed and access to Weirs Creek, Eureka, etc is by foot now.

There's even access information against specific crags on http://www.thecrag.com/

If something isn't clear because you're hearing or finding conflicting information, you can email the VCC's access and environment officer Tracey: http://www.vicclimb.org.au/index.php?location=contact#198

What ajfclark said and especially take note of the map contained in Grampians-National-Park-Update.pdf.There is a large area at the northern end of the Park tinged pinkish. This area is CLOSED.
The rest of the Grampians that is normally open for climbing is still open.

Oh, and just because the hollow mountain and mount zero carparks aren't pink doesn't mean you can just walk in to the crag from there.

Thanks both for the advice. I had a look at what youse mentioned and did a bit more digging and asking around. As you could tell I wasn't familiar with the South Grampians - there certainly is heaps of stuff there. Have a better idea now after enjoying the Easter weekend there and plan to check with out again sometime soon. Cheers!
