Glad to read there is more development other than just the Boneyard Andrew. Sounds like there may be something suitable for the OP.

Hi Cam,

Thanks for that, appreciate it. Fingal has started to get some great little sport routes, however, The Boneyard has certainly been given the lions share of attention. They are definitely worth a trip on their own.

Looking forward to catching up if you make it up this way... my shout for the beers / coffee.

there is an entire Buttress of fun up the hill (New Horizons),

It's a pity that we're having this discussion on Chockstone rather than thesarvo, but c'est la vie I guess.
I haven't heard anything about New Horizons, Andrew. What can you tell us about the range of routes and access?
Cheers
Doug

Hi Doug,

All the info is in the new online guide that Gerry did up... a dam good effort, but no photos of me... so I have to boycott on principle. You can find it here:

http://climbnortherntasmania.wordpress.com/

Access is about 30min uphill. Very easy to follow, tagged, cleaned etc. Routes are a great mixed bag with 3 lovely cracks from 16-20 (and one absolute horror show off-width if you're into that sort of thing) and some very good sport from 18 - 24. There are currently 3 projects on the go as well, ranging from 25-28. The 24 Arete ("The Mullet's Edge") is simply superb and a must do. The 23 face left of that is also very enjoyable.

All in all it is a great place for a day, as a change of scene, or just if your are after short classy climbs. We spent all Saturday there and it was a great day for all involved.

Look forward to seeing you up here sometime.... happy to give you a belay if keen.

Kind regards

Andrew
