Hi,

I'm coming to Oz for the first time in March for a Month, I'll have a week in the Sydney area in which to get to the blue Mountains. I'd really appreciate any advice on a couple of things. Firstly would be any recommendations on where to hire a camper from, the second being good rest day activities, walks and good spots to park up and chill. Thanks in advance for any help!

Apologies if this is in the wrong part of the forum.

Cheers.

Call in to any of the Information Centres (there is usually one in major towns), and enquire. You will have more choice than you can poke a forky stick at...

Here are a couple to get you started.

Great free walking track notes

March is starting to get a bit cold for it, but canyoning (aka canyoneering) is a great companion to climbing.

The Ozultimate online canyoning guide

For easyish winter canyons you have maybe Grand Canyon, Juggler Canyon, all the North Grose canyons, then a lot of stuff up the dirt roads north towards Newnes like the Dry Canyon, Tigersnake Canyon etc.

you'll find tons of spots to park a camper in the Blueys... Mt Hay Road; Megalong Valley & Mt York are pretty popular. Drive out Bells Line of Road & check out Pierces Pass camping.. and if tempted, go climb some multipitch.

Rest days - deep water soloing at Dam Cliffs for any real hot days.
Check out the cliff top walk at Wentworth falls - it's pretty amazing.
You'll figure it out - a week in the Blueys will fly past, so make sure you look around!

Rest day: drive out to Glow Worm tunnel on Newnes Palateau and walk through the old rail way tunnel into the Wolgan valley. The glow worms are pretty cool and its a pleasant walk

March can be fine for Canyoning - I've done Spring Creek on Anzac Day in the deep past - but you need to pick your day or have a decent wetsuit. Empress is a good quick intro.

You're not that far from Sydney and it's associated touristy things by train, and there's plenty of walking/mountain biking/etc. to do on "rest days" in the Blueys.

This is awesome, the week might end up being more like 2 at this rate, those walking guides are sweet too.

Thanks folks.
