Snatch and Grab Chipped?

In that case Pat, not only has snatch and grab been (apparently) chipped it has also sprouted two new bolts.

True, and the retro bolt was unecessary too given the worlds best large wire behind the very solid jug. Still, does take about 30seconds less to climb it now. So, back to the topic at hand... I was out there yesterday and climbed this (again x many). Does anyone know where the chip is meant to be? There is a large and very suspicious 4 finger edge at approx 8ft (one good move off the deck), but that has been there for a long, long time (as in was there mid 90s and predates the retrobolt by a very long way). I have always thought this hold was a chip (it in fact looks like 4-510-12mm drill holes lined up perfectly to form a crimp in the ironstone). To be honest I couldnt see any signs of a new chip, and it didnt look like this (old) one had been enhanced much as far as I could see. If it is I wonder why youd bother because the start where this hold is is easy and the crux is the next bodylength up to the uberchalked jug. The climbing and grade seem unchanged (spoogy nonsense gives way to juggy happiness). As an aside Redex is still just brilliant and as much as people hate Werribee, it would hold its head high just about anywhere.

So I was out gallivanting at WG today and thought I'd take a peek at Snatch and Grab 2.0. I honestly could not see anywhere that might have been "enhanced" though because others have suggested the large horizontal (~8ft up, slightly below and right of first bolt) might be an obvious one I took a few pics;

I took another pic of a possibly "enhanced" hold, even though my gut says it's not, and while it might be hard to see, I like the pic:)

If any one wants the larger pics let me know, I'll happily email them.

Hmm. It seems the code you used above (I removed the bits that hide it within my post reply to you), is OK, but I am not sure about using the hash (#) sign... which may corrupt things?

I looked at 'my pictures' portion of your public user profile to see if they uploaded OK, and they appear as blanks too, so being suspicious, I then looked at 'my pictures' within my own user profile, and they also appear as blanks...

Booyah! Hashtags it was.... now to get bigger pics. I'm trying to remember how to make the pic file size smaller without smallifying the pics too much. You can barely even see the pics I've uploaded let alone any alleged 'enhancements!

I'm too embarassed to tell you how many different spellings I experimented with, before settling for that one :)

p.s. your photos have disappeared again

p.p.s. despite the tiny size of the photos, I can assure you that the first one showed a manufactured hold

Yes, I saw that. I used to think I was somewhat computer literate. I'm not so sure anymore.

It does look rather neat but it's been that way for as long as I've played on Snatch and Grab; ~3 years...

As far as I'm concerned, that isn't a photo of a crag!

Red Rocks is awesome! Most of the loose rock is gone (until the next wave of erosion sets in), there's only 2 chipped holds shared between 20 routes, and the recent rain has paradoxically reduced the silt runoff (by allowing new vegetation to stabilize the dirt slope which sits above the crag)

No need to take my word for it though, Simey's been there, he rated it.

That's an old pic of Melton Creek, that tree's fallen down and the old homeless bloke who 'lived' in the cave died. Sadly I've spent a fair bit of time at Melton Creek playing around. I took the whipper snipper down and tidied everything up and even brushed all the broken glass off the holds... Aahhh, good memories;)

I should head over. I'd like to feel better about the amount of time I've spent on micro-climbs at Black Hill over the last few years and I 'recon a morning there should do the trick nicely...

Ben E - Melton creek is an interesting place. Don't worry about reading the 'guide' just get on down there and freestyle. You'll instantly feel better about every climbing area you've been too ashamed to own up to. No matter how dodgy it was!

Glenn Tempest/everyone - a question about the enhanced hold; the Big Ears/Snatch and Grab corner has lots of similar pockets where nice rounded pebble have fallen/pulled out (there are plenty of the pebbles still stuck in the rock too) could it be this smilarly rounded pocket used to contain a pebble too?
