Mount Arapiles is a beached whale on an ancient shore in Victoria Australia, with the peak of Mitre Rock nearby. It has had the odd bushfire, but mostly it simply has variable weather throughout the year.

Mt Arapiles is just one of many high points in Victoria and rises about 800 feet remarkably above the otherwise unbroken surrounding plains of the Wimmera world.

In slopes of Mt Arapiles there is scenery of quartzite sandstone rocks, plants, forest and wildlife.

Vacation holiday activities that can be done include walking and nature trekking for wildlife excursions. Adventure sports include climbing and hiking Mt Arapiles to the summit, Telecommunications Tower summit exactly at near the top of the peak.

Several Mt Arapiles climbing routes which leads climbers to lofty heights are Bard, Watchtower Crack, Scorpion, Kachoong, Tiptoe Ridge and Punks in the Gym.

I'm wondering if there is someone who can help me arrange porters to carry my gear up Mt Arapiles.

1 pair Five-tennies (new, fitted)
1 set each of summer and winter clothing including shell garments
1 Umbrella
1 pair sunglasses

Transport to and from Arapiles.

No the porters work an 8-hour day including travel time, excluding meal breaks. They are accomodated at the Melbourne Hilton and chauffered to Arapiles for each days work. On arrival they consume lunches packed by the Hilton, carry loads for 10 minutes, return to camp and are chauffered back to Melbourne. All included in the daily charge.

Thanks Kieran

That does sound very professional.

However, when I climbed Mt Kiliminjaro, the guides also woke me up each morning with a hot cup of tea, a big smile and the greeting "Jambo, Bwana!". They also complimented me and my friends on how strong and fit we were and how well we were going.

Frankly, I'm wondering what you've got that can compete?

You will be satisfied with Kieran's offer when you come to realise that "Jambo, Bwana" means "A pox on you, horse's arse"

Regarding the guides etc and allowances, No one has yet mentioned the requirement for a bus full of partially sighted nurses of low moral virtue, outfitted as per the Robert Palmer, Simply Irresistible dress code, with a prediction for older, low income, socially outcast males, or the copious amounts of herbal tobacco of Mount Kilimanjaro extraction that must be consumed on a daily basis by all parties

Further, given the above, it would be appropriate for all 'climbers' to be portaged in a comfortable litter on a daily basis at least to Camp 1 given the requirements detailed above

Well, must say having wandered about in crampons trying not to fall into a crevase etc the Machame route rocked!! I took a mate who was addicted to her blackberry and had never walked more than 4 hours in her life and she loved it hardly ever complained a word. Sometimes its not the amazing things people do it the personal struggles and fight they put put up to achieve a dream. Tonight i sit in awe of a mate who followed me, trusted met and listed and got up in 6.5 hours . Happy Days !!!!!
