I was wondering what are the best climbing options around Melbourne if you have to rely solely on public transport?

The gym in the city? Otherwise it'd be easier to catch public transport to arapiles.

Yep public it to Araps. Very easy.

If you are after gyms though, Hardrock in the city is probably best but Hardrock in nanawading is also very close to a train station and buses.

Otherwise get a bike and ride to the burnley bouldering walls (you can probably walk from a train station too).

You can easily get to Burnley via bike, tram or train. The guide has details in the intro: Burnley bouldering wall guidebook

Out of interest anyone gone to Buffalo via public transport? Getting to Pok looks ok and then seems like a taxi or hitch up the hill would be the go?

The Rock at Wagga is on the main rail line.
