Just thought I'd let you guys know that the road to the Horn is closed (there is a gate where it turns to dirt). The sign says it will not be open until 2nd Nov (maybe they will open it earlier if the road dries???). So be prepared for a bit of a walk if you want to go play up there! Also, does anyone know if this happens every year?

The road is closed over winter annually.

ALL dirt roads in Buff NP are closed till end of Oct. (includes 31st !) from Queens birthday w/end in June - start of ski season annually.
Other areas affected include out in Og Gog Magog direction as well as the Lake Catani campsite road.

NP can vary these times according to need. In the last 10 years I have not known them to open early (even though the snow has long gone), but closures have continued at some times for other reasons.

Perhaps worth mentioning in the new guidebook?

The MTB would work but
>Perhaps worth mentioning in the new guidebook?
is still a good idea.
There is a thread on Chockstone for suggestions for the Buffalo Guidebook, but at this late stage of its production, its probably better to email the appropriate VCC person.

I would 1st check the existing guide, which I am pretty sure already mentions this fact re road closures. This being the case its likely that the info would be transferred forward to the new guide, as it is still applicable.

Post edit.
Just read on another thread (but not the original I referred to);
