I think he was alright just shaken up...I could be wrong though but that would account for the new fence at the top.

Im just jaded about Wahroonga as last time I was there I brushed a wasps next half up a route and got attacked...not fun :)

Ku-ring-Gai Council has recently released a Draft Unstructured Recreation Strategy for public comment.

The Draft proposes that Lindfield Rocks and the cliff near Wahroonga Oval be categorised as "Designated Escarpments" for the activities of "rock climbing, bouldering and abseiling".

You can find the Draft Strategy on Council's website at:

http://www.kmc.nsw.gov.au/www/html/3922-unstructured-recreation-strategy.asp

Follow the link to the 2.18MB PDF file and take a look, specifically at Page 13.

Submissions close 16 September 2010.

Note: The Draft Strategy specifically warns/advises against using any Council infrastructure as an anchor point.

Good time to test councils willingness for new bolts at Lindfield...one of their "rules"...

"Bolting must only be carried out by experienced persons and to accepted practices. Council must approve all new bolting."

Who's game?

What's the 'accepted pratice'? I think if you asked a large group of 'experienced persons' you would not get a consensus of 'accepted practice'.

Very true.....If you read appendix 3 also you will find a lot of 'rules" that contradict one another.

Would you really want to go through the Council nightmare of getting a DA to put in a bolt ? Nasty precedent.

Re the Ku-Ring-Gai plan.

One of my friend's mothers works for Ku-Ring-Gai council. I've obtained the work email of the plan's author. I'm not sure if emailing her directly with concerns would be a better means of having concerns addressed.

If people would like to indicate what they see as the *main* issues with the draft plan, and specifically the climbing guidelines, I could turn them into a document and email it to her.
