Freak nasty!! I thought I was a gear head. You have so many items I want (need) though my wife has promised to stab my eyeballs out if I buy any more gear...

What's with all the people on here lately trying to flog gear for more money than you can just buy brand new from a shop on the net?

Take the Petzl Tikka XP2 - I bought one from an ebay store two months ago for $60 including the postage to australia.

if it's too pricey, there is an easy answer.. Don't buy it, the price will dome down...

Congrats. Out of all the items I listed, you found 1 that was cheaper on e-bay. Where do you want the gold star?

seriously though, if you find it cheaper somewhere else, buy it somewhere else. I'm sure if you looked hard enough, and wrangled enough, you can get anything for a better price. The point is though, this stuff is here. in Australia (Brissie specifically)
Compare the prices above to what you can find locally.

I'm going to be climbing in the bluies for a week from tomorrow, so I may be a bit slack replying..

pretty sure you could find all of those items for a fair bit cheaper on the net.... The point of writing when something's a ripoff is so noobs don't get stooged by people trying to make money from their own o/s orders. For sure, keep trying to sell it, but people looking to buy this stuff should also realise you can a) get it cheaper from the states especially with the dollar hitting around the 94c mark.... b) pay a little more and actually support an independent australian store that's actually providing something to australia

As a Chockstone moderator I find this a very grey area relating to our spam policy...

This post (and several others recently) seems to be a profit making enterprise in re-selling gear to locals which has been purchased overseas. This would be in direct competition to our sponsor (Rock Hardware). If this post was from a 'shop' or a 'company' then it would be considered spam. This is a first caution Mr FreeBaseBuzz - next time I will probably delete the topic. Unless you can let us know how you 'accidentally' bought several thousands of $ of gear when on holidays??

Perhaps then, and this is aimed at the moderators, the issue should be tackled with another 'policy'...? Could you not introduce a ''it must be so much of a % off the retail price'' etc to ensure people aren't flogging it for profit..

I say this because, and as neil raised, the ''I accidently bought 1000's of dollers of extra gear'' seems way too far fetched.. I mean really, if money is seriously that abundant for the person selling flogging it off at almost nothing would seem the right thing... Otherwise... Dodge..

While I see where you are coming from, can I just say that this is not by any means a profit making exercise. As I stated above, I bought a heap of gear from the US, yes, but it was a single bulk lot off e-bay that was, in my opinion, too good to pass up at that price. From that lot, I have taken the best gear for myself, replaced my older ropes, replaced heaps of my rack, given away some of my old stuff and want to get rid of the rest of the items that I don't need. When it's all said and done, even if I do sell everything in the list above, I'll still be in the red.

I listed these items, and priced them cheaper than anything I could find online here, to give the climbing community a chance at them before I resort to listing what's left on e-bay. The guys on qurank weren't complaining when they snapped up my $50 aliens.

my trad rack now has doubles of c4s from .5-4 and doubles of the mastercams between 00 and 3 I think going to triples would be overkill.

Thanks for the explanation FreeBaseBuzz. I'm happy for you to sell your stuff on Chocky - it does appear that you weren't just importing and reselling. Sorry about the hassle. Members on this website are a tough crowd to please sometimes!

No worries, I had all these righteous indignation questions and statements churning in my head over lunch, in case you took the opposite view :-p

The guys in BRC while we climb at Kangaroo Point on Tuesday nights have started referring to the boot of my car as "Nigels Climbing Emporium" over the last month or so...

It also doesn't help the sense of community sponsored by RockHardware when most people selling large amounts of gear on this forum are first-time posters.

Congrats, you got it in one.. I joined specifically to list the gear I have for sale.
I've had this stuff listed on Qurank for a while, and sold a bit of stuff but interest has dried up so I thought I'd list it here.. You see, I haven't climbed south of Sydney ever, as a result, I don't have much to contribute to this forum.. doesn't mean I haven't been lurking for years..

But apart from giving reasons as to why listing my gear for sale might be wrong, perhaps you can tell me when IS it ok to sell gear here? Only if there's less than 5 items? Only when it's used? Only when it's more expensive than the sponsors? Why all the negativity? I have cheap gear for sale.. if you don't want any, don't flame the thread. Neil raised concerns, I answered them to his satisfaction.. can't that be enough?
