That is a very good beer drinking spot - I've tested it a couple of times. No need to buy a boat, just hire one, or I'll get my bro-in-law to bring the family boat over. Plenty of room at my place to crash too. It's fishing heaven there Davo - Snapper, Trevally, Kingfish, Tuna, Wahoo, even Marlin if you're into killing big animals for the sake of it. I don't scuba dive, but I love snorkling - there's so many fricken fish you've got to push them out of the way to see anything.

And check out the deep water soloing spot a couple of islands north:

M9 is such a gentleman to climb with. He'll do big runouts on lead just so he doesn't wear out your gear!!

That's the best looking piece of rock in the pacific i've ever seen.

Any pukpuks lurking down in there?

No worries, I'll just fix you up with a new missus. Now, I have a couple of sister in laws...

OK, I'll let you in on the crag, it's in Buka (northern end of Bougainville). Not quite the Solomons, but only a few hours by boat. I'm hoping to find something of equal quality a bit closer.

And don't start me on crocs!! They are mean, nasty bloody things that really do see you as a meal and are worthy of a bullet (Saltys, exactly the same as the Aussie ones). Nasty incident a few weeks ago in the Solomons where a seven y.o. boy got taken by one - swimming with his mates off a wharf and one turned up - they were all scrambling madly to get out of the water and SNAP! one less pikinnini. I'm seriously considering buying a very big knife (as in 'that's not a knife' type knife).

Airfares can be cheap - I picked up PacificBlue (Virgin) special - Brisbane/Honiara return for $540. Few hours cheap boat ride to my place. Hitch from Sydney to Brisbane.

Did you manage to do that traverse over Christmas? Let me know if you have a chance to do it before you go.

Excellent.
Thanks for that superstu.
I found it interesting how much POM-neomelanesian has changed over the years. It seems more 'english-afied' now!

Nah, rained the whole time, and I'm not that much into emulating a real English sea side traverse. Won't be in Syds before I go, but I'll be back - my folks still live near there and I'll be back for visits.
