My TAL policy covers personal injury from any cause, though I have heard recently they are bastards to actually claim against ie impossible to claim against, so I'd do your homework on the insurer. I'm going to switch it to a non-profit insurance plan, such as HCF. Suggest you look at them https://www.hcf.com.au/life-insurance/

I had a good experience with Make a Financial Difference insurance brokers, https://www.mafd.com.au a while ago who had actually spent some time with underwriters going through the risks of climbing and got them, allegedly, to accept that the risk driving to the crag was likely more real than at the crag.

YMMV but I would recommend them.

I've used TAL and their competitor AIA, you can go directly to them or through brokers. The difficulty of claiming through them diminishes over time you've held the policy apparently...they tend to be extra suss on people that claim within the first year or two of starting their policy.

Any good Financial Planner should be able to find you the right cover. If you are going to look up “Insurance Broker “ make sure they advertise Financial planning. Insurance brokers can’t help as they aren’t qualified.

Generally the most economical insurance for TPD insurance is with your superannuation company.

If you want something more comprehensive then do your research or talk to a financial planner.

(Though a word of advice, don't treat financial planners like doctors, most don't have your financial interests at heart. Consider them like used car salesmen, their primary goal is to make a sale and will happy mislead to do so.)
