Check out
this article on Mike Reardon who soloed 280+ routes in a day at Joshua Tree. Some of the routes were soloed both up and down, all were topped out on and some were repeated. The total number of individual routes was 251. It took him 19 hours for this effort and was witnessed by two people for the whole event and numerous others throughout the day.

The whole article is worth a read.

This now stands as the record for Joshua Tree.

This puts my effort of 18 routes in a day at Frog in the shade then doesn`t it.

well spotted phil, the only thing i don't believe in the article is the encouragement from his wife!

I remember reading in the Araps guidebook about two climbers doing 110 pitches of hard climbing in a day - Jon Muir + ?? that kind of mastery is inspiring.

I vaguely recall a similar story from Arapiles, but I think it was Peter Croft and Geoff Weigand. Keiran will I am sure set the story straight.

Sorry Dalai, haven't a clue. Haven't heard that story before - doesn't mean it isn't true. I've climbed at Araps for many years but I have never been a Pines resident. That counts me out of a lot of the Gos.

Yep, Peter running up first, with Geoff following him up, both solo on routes to 24. As is my understanding =)

I've heard that story from a mate who was climbing at the time, also read about it in an interview with Weigand in Rock & Ice in the early 90's.
