Thanks Peter, I'm not much use on the tech side on all of this but if I can help in some way let me know. Agree the app will be great when the data is accurate, fully agree it should be synchronised with the ACA data.

There are quite a few complete guuides for crags that don't need the SSS data I would think. There is also lots of crags where all the routes have been entered but the descriptions might not be entered. I don't want to see duplicate entires of the same climbs as people have 'ticked' routes in the database from years ago so we need to keep those entries. Manually doing it for crags that already exist in the ACA is the only way to go as far as I can see. If a crag doesn't exist at all then a direct port across would be appropriate.

Thanks garbie. I reckon the best possible thing to do is to email Daniel and report whatever niggles you've found in the app, and maybe also urge him to switch over to using the ACA data.

Then make sure you update the ACA site whenever you can - it has the potential to be a truly world class service (particularly in combination with Daniel's app!), but is dependent on getting as many people as possible involved in the mundane job of maintaining the quality and accuracy of the data.

[DISCLAIMER] I have nothing whatsoever to do with either the ACA or the iPhone app. I'm just a very strong believer in ensuring that climbing info be free (as in speech), and ACA is currently the best way to achieve that.

Does the ACA have some form of dump/export facility so an app could pull updates?

Mt Alex at Mittagong is all up to date on ACA. Make sure that info stays as is !!

Dunno - that's one of the things I hope Daniel chats with them about (that or a CRUD REST API - both would be ideal!).
