The question remains:
Is the pub flooded yet?

(I was in the pub one day a few years back hearing complaints of the drought. I asked the owner if he thought this was global warming influenced. He poo pooed it saying that within the decade he would be sand bagging the front of his pub!)

yup, andrew to the rescue worked again ... i've got more photos but it's way easier to put them on facebook then here .. i'll try and make them publicly visable.

nati's phones went out for a while, water keeps rising, helped a few people move their most precious stuff off the floor as the water lapped at the door. There are a few houses periously wet and a few more very close to being so. Eduardo was last seen paddling down the creek. The lake doesn't look that impressive yet, not because it hasn't got a fair amount of water in it and more turning up by the moment, but the creek is far more specacular, spreading basically from lake rd to lake ave. When i drove out to the lake, it wasn't over lake road. 15 minutes later on my way back, it was. Lake ave is impassable and where most of the threatened houses are. The water is also over the road at jory st, station st, elmes st and on the main rd out to the mount. So, maybe Olbert and Dave won't be able to get out to the mount ... but the weather is going to clear up guys and you'll get to see a very rare flooded wimmera, i think that's pretty good timing. I'm not even sure Sarah will be able to get home, it's pretty wet over there (house is fine though).

haven't been out to the mt or the river, but BOM tells me the river is a 5.6 m, which is phenomenally high. Doubt the pines is flooded as it's a big slope, but it was probably a mud waterfall last night.

Thanks for the view of my garden. Ahhh it's getting high. eek! not looking good for me getting into town aas someone just told me the horsham nhill road looking flooded in places. x

Some people are such grumps - have you thought of opening a climbing store or cafe here? you'd fit right in.

I've had a bloody fabulous day. The water is spectacular, everyone pulled together to protect people's houses, Bliss was taking photos for the Age and said that despite everything, she didn't have a single photo where people weren't smiling, then the water started dropping at the literally the last millimetre in one case, so people hung out and enjoyed the water, the sun came out, several of us paddled down to the lake, i even went for a swim (well, i was so wet from Duncan and Anthony and paddle spash fights i couldn't have gotten wetter anyway) - it had been nearly 15 years since I'd swum in the lake.

what's most annoying in that article is the way it says the SES saved the day. Actually, despite requests for help and sand bags from the SES and the council first thing this morning, no help nor sand bags arrived until lunchtime, by which time friends and neighbours had gotten in and down the work anyway. The sand bags lining most of the lake road houses were delivered by a local farmer in his front end loader. When i went back to see how things were going at 2, there were a dozen ses hanging around at the end of dry road, doing nothing except asking people driving out of the flood if there was anyone needing help down there. And telling Enga that it was toop dangerous to kayak down the creek to which she responded that she was a whitewater professional and she didn't regard this as a dangerous river.any one who saw the abc news would have seen her paddling off.

They're young and fit, and probably pretty good for mopping and shovelling sand.......amongst other things ;)

anyone got an internet link to that - I was busy playing in the lake -the news I saw showed a 4sec clip of jury st. and no mention of people playing in flood water

The kids at the skate park were having fun - I think nati could do with a swimming pool.

I love having a river at the bottom of my garden it sounds lovely and looks fab. x

can't find it in a quick look, but surely there'd be the whole of last nights news (abc)online unitl the next edition?

I don't think they generally like people "playing" in flood water, the stories are all of people who drown playing in flood water.

The big kids on the jetskis? I thought there was a potential darwin award coming on playing on a 1/2m deep flooded skate ramp on a jet ski. We were also a little dubious of the guys who tied a rope to the bridge by the lake and were going to wakeboard off it - dubious of both the ability of the manky old bridge to hold and whether the current was enough to board on anyway - we were proved wrong on both accounts, it looked kind fun.

i'd like to be able to be serious about damming the creek - this'd be a great amount of water to have in town!
