The climbing community is tiny, and Chris was a great friend of many. Have you considered that it would be very morbid to be writing the pre-planned obituary of a good friend who was dieing of cancer? I'd prefer to hope he pulls through (which he did the first time!).The climbing 'press' as such in Australia is just you and your mates. It's not a vast organization of journalists churning out content daily with no direct connection to their subject material. Rock staff do a great job with limited resources. Get over it.

Well said Neil.

I have a few spare hard copies of the Argus edition you're after, if you're interested?

You do have a point about the limited powers of the Australian 'climbing press' but there was definitely room for improvement in the tribute to Baxter (nothing wrong with the article itself, it just could have been more comprehensive with photos and more detail). Your defensiveness is a bit hard to understand and certainly doesn't come across as unbiased. Criticism of publications is a healthy thing and is to be expected, who are you to stifle such criticism? A suggestion that a tribute could have been improved is not an attack on the whole magazine. 10 comments later, perhaps you're the one that needs to get over it.

I'm thinking that with Mikl tribute in Rock, an issue of Argus, a presentation at goatfest, an extensive thread here, speakers at the funeral, the retrospective in Wild, Chris has gotten plenty of repectful and appropriate coverage recently. Someone that many people here knew and cared for has died. Carrying on like a pork chop about whether there has been enough tribute to it from people who in fact didn't know him seems rather insensitive to me. Sometimes people don't need to have their grief rubbed in their face again and definately don't need to be told that they didn't do their friend/partner/climbing partner/workmate/family member justice in the tribute department.

Thanks Kwright. Actually, I got a copy from Sarah Gara (thank you!).
It's really the kind of retrospective I was looking for.
Once again, sorry for starting this sh1t storm. I can now see that it was a wholly unnecessary thread.
20-20 hindsight is a wonderful thing...
