Smoke was sighted, and checked by air and ground crews. Better to be safe than toasted.

Fire at Arapiles, no further details.

Also a fire reported in Vic Range (Syphon Rd)

No big plumes of smoke over Arapiles as I came home, unlike the big ones to south and north-west.
There appears to be some smoke at the back of the mount. It could be coming from the fires to the north-west but I think it's at Arapiles but not bad at this stage. Lots of storm clouds about.

Mitre, Nurcong and Gymbowen being evactuated from little desert fire travelling south. coming out to Arapiles for the weekend is not looking like a good option at the moment either. Looks likes armageddon out there in multiple directions from Nati. When we went out for a swim, it was a dark halo across all horizons.

The reported Arapiles fire was apparently in a paddock and put out quite quickly.

It's a weird sort of twilight in Nati even though that should be well over an hour away.

Bugger of a season! Got 3 fires within 10km of my place tonight, fire plan well and truly activated and minimal sleep to be had. Black Ranges fire might have ruined my autumn climbing plans but thats minor compared to the threat we and others face. Stay safe out there people.

The fire was in a paddock, not at the Pines. As I understand it the marker doesn't necessarily show the precise location of the fire but reflects the initial report of where the fire is e.g. "at Mt Arapiles",
So, as I understand, no fire damage at the mount and it's now been raining up here for some time, which is really good news.
