Not sure it's a climbing photo, but that is an Ecrin Rock.......I'm sure the folks at petzl are stoked about the mainstream exposure.

Statham aggressively places a BD 0.5 in a crack underneath a pool on the outside of skyscraper. Yes, really.

^ Big whip onto an over cammed piece. Plenty more pro on offer for redundancy. Shame.

Clearly should have extended it, and had it re-oriented for a more downward pull = )

In the Guardian a tragic story of an outing in the mountains gone wrong leading to the death of five English school boys.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jul/06/fatal-hike-became-nazi-propaganda-coup

Some outstanding quotes:

"The first boy to collapse was Jack Alexander Eaton, the school’s 14-year-old boxing champion. He was given an orange and a piece of cake and told to 'buck up'."

"The rest of the boys were beaten with brooms to shake off the snow and get their circulation going..."

On a more positive note - Steve from RockHardware was in the papers:

"When rock climber Steve Morris, 53, noticed his son, John, 23, was suffering from depression, he encouraged him to come rock climbing. The physical activity and conversation with his dad helped John find a way to carry on."

Nice photo. Frightening. I guess there is probably a cam in behind him?

I am guessing that the climber in the pic is either leading or seconding on a main rope which must disappear into the chimney. The rope you can see is simply a trail rope for either hauling gear or rapping off (why else is it attached to the back of him?).

Yup when zoomed in you can see a second rope in the chimney

Funny that my wife saw it the other day and thought it was the show "living room".

So she texted me at work saying your friend Ross is in living room. I messaged back "Ross????" She replied "climber". So I messaged her "how long is he around for I'll leave now". So I jumped on my bike and rushed to get home just after 5 to no Ross in my living room.

Bastard
