I remember reading his book as a kid and pretty much believing all of it. It is funny how unfeasible it all now sounds having read that article and perhaps being a bit older and wiser. Even funnier is that amongst all those yarns the only one I was sus of as a kid was when a snake bit him on the schlong.

Am I the only one to have noticed the pattern in Bear Grylls television making?

First of all he creates Man vs Wild, basically parroting all the information from John Wiseman's The SAS Survival Handbook.

That all goes rather well, so what to do next? Hmmm, how about Worst Case Scenario. Thankfully John Wiseman also has written a book about that too - The Urban Survival Handbook.

Yet I've never noticed any acknoledgement of him in any of the MvW credits.

Must make their production meetings pretty easy though - "...so Bear, what chapter shall we plagiarise next?"

Someone added Bill Hicks as an uncredited writer on the IMBD page for Denis Leary's No Cure For Cancer a while back. Perhaps we could do the same on NvW's page?

I'm not all that bothered by Treseder or Bear spinning shit. Anyone who knows anything knows its crap, anyone who believes such over the top stuff kind of deserves some agro for being so gullible. Minor bullshitting is less acceptable simply because it shows a lack of ambition

Well, reading that expose, I thought that there were more flaws in the expose than the original claim. I believe that you could scramble/jump every bit of claustral until the 2nd abseil in 'the black hole', with a reasonable chance of escaping injury.

The expose also massively exagerated the walkout time........and, if he lived in sydney's north west, the Claustral carpark is a mere couple of hundred meters from a viable route for him to have been taking home from central oz.

I've definitely crashed in the car an hour from home after epic climbing/driving combo's..........not hard to swallow at all. If you start hallucinating, stop driving.

As Elwood Blues said "I didn't lie, I just bullshitted you"

There is a difference

I don't like people who shit in my linen closet.......thats worse than lying

This is perhaps a better link that examines Treseder's claims -

http://www.coolrunning.com.au/ultra/treseder.shtml

It has links to other articles. I can remember having an interesting discussion about Treseder with Chris Baxter, Ian Brown and Tom Williams at the last Escalade at Mt Victoria.

Well it hasn’t done him any harm. He turned apparently into a major fundraiser for Westmead Hospital and then the Royal BrisbaneWomens Hospital, and got a seat on the Federally run and prime minister sponsored community business partnership and gives” inspirational talks”.

( for some reason I got onto Rich Simpson claiming to climb Action Directe and though to look up our Australian version of sporting superhero ness).
