Knuckleheads knuckled - slight tiff at the Pines.

Original inquiry "Various reports of up to twenty people fighting. Hammers used as weapons. Sounds unbeleivable but it was on the TV news. In fact on the telly they made it sound like all twenty had a hammer in hand."
Edit: People fight over noise levels some with weapons. Cops called, victims refuse to make statement. Cops decide conviction unlikely don't proceed. Bloody headed numbskulls run weeping to their blog. Some people support the victims, some people think they're tossers. Moral is : if you stretch the envelope then sometimes it snaps back!

Who would have a hammer at Araps?

Now if they said hammer drill, then I'ld believe them.

It's a state park, no firearms allowed.

Well it wasn't quite twenty people fighting, but things did get a big ugly last night. Good to see Arapiles isn't becoming too boring though.

If you want to read about the events in more detail, I'm sure it will eventually get a write-up here... http://cjclimbs.blogspot.com/

clearly the brawl involved non-climbers who use hammers to bash in tent pegs. any seasoned climber would not want to miss the wonderful feeling you get when, while trying to push one of those star-pegs into the hard araps ground with a pair of thongs on, the end of the peg slices through the flimsy rubber and stabs you in the bottom of the foot...
mmm!

I recall things at Goatfest a little differently, but then I was sober.

He was refused alcohol due to the combined reasons of being drunk and obnoxious, being aggressive and
abusive towards the female bar staff, and drinking their own goon anyway.

He was asked to be quite a few times, but only did so once I got angry with him. He was not thrown out,
even though I was asked to throw him out, and he was the last to leave and I gave him and his girl friend
a lift back out to the Pines.

He says in his blog that he found it boring, but he stayed to the end.

I'll tell you about his monologue in the car on the way back out to the Pines, where he went on and on
about how limp ice climbing is, and bad mouthing 1 individual who was at Goatfest because that person
was English (fair enough someof you might say, but I considered the contex a little out of order). I asked
if he had ever done any ice climbing, and he said no, and then went on to tell me about some fantasy
involving anal sex with two men, and how as he has never done that doesn't stop him from having an
opinion on it.

I formed the opinion that he was jealous as none of the movies were about him, and so he felt the need to
make up for not being the centre of attention with his display. I thought it wonderful to see him doing chin-
ups on the "No Exit" sign and the doorframe during intermission. You just don't get enough of that these
days.

I’ll happily ensure that he doesn’t sit through another Goatfest.

mmm I've met him a few times, kinda funny in very small doses early on in the evening
and in winter when its dark with nothing to do but throw things on the fire.
I remember him talking himself up about serpentine last time i was there a few weeks
back and he claims to have subsequently sent it - must actually be an alright climber!

So what actually happened with this brawl?

I don't use the grade one climbs as a judge of ones character. Hundreds (thousands?) of people have done that route and most of them remain humble nameless people who just get on with their climbing without all the hoopla and campground spraying.

It even got an onsight (No beta, gear on) ascent a few weeks back which went un reported.

...opps that was me Adam. You left my computer logged in as you , and no matter how many times i hit log-off and re-log-in as me - it keeps switching back to you every 10 minutes! Extremely annoying. Especially since i don't even have to type your password?
