I rebolted Wanker in a Whirlwind (left side of Vandaholics wall) a few weeks ago. I could only get one of the old carrots out, so if you get bored with your cordless grinder there a few more old bolts to remove on this climb. Thanks...

Can we keep to the topic please - id like this to be viewed by as many people as possible so we can remove every one of these death clip-and-goes.

I know you do alot of good rebolting work Niel. I just think it sets a good example if your gonna remove this dodgy stuff to replace it rather than just lump it on us locals to fix later. That biner has been there for ages. You could have left it, posted that it was there on here, then one of us would go replace it, not just rip the gate off. Idiots will still try to wonder why its there and use it somehow.......

Just an idea for later, Any way back on topic - Ill happily borrow the grinder Ben! See you on Sat!

I might be down on Sat arvo, but all day Sunday. But back on topic (well sort of) - how many bolts can you chop with a single battery? Can I just get an el cheapo one ??

THESE BINERS ARE POTENTIALLY DEATH! I was not about to leave it there for others to use and die whilst hoping a local would fix it up. According to you its been there for years and no-one has noticed. It doesn't seem the locals are doing a very good job of watching out for these even though it has been well publicized. These have broken at 169kg. Read that figure again.1-6-9 kg.

I did pull out one of my own biners to leave on it - but then removed it as I expected it would just get stolen by idiots anyway and I don't like the idea of single item lower offs anyway. By disabling the death clip-and-go there is no chance someone will use it. You can still THREAD the mallions and lower-off, just like 90% of routes out there.

If they are stupid enough to lower off a biner with no gate then they deserve to die.

Mike's one (kind of elcheapo) struggles to even cut ONE bolt without overheating and requiring resting for 20 minutes.

Id be happy to chip in some of the stainless steel wire gate biners with captive bars to be used at Nowra for clip and go anchors.

I have never used mine just to chop old bolts alone so I don't know how many it will get. Try and see if you can get a grinder skins that works with your drill battery's (I have forgot which drill you have)
My grinder skin was only like $100.

Thanx for removing that death clip on sloth neil, I must have missed your note.

Hammer + chisel + Stilson (pipe) wrench

Four chisel cuts in bolt shaft, flush with rock and 90 deg from each other

Sharp twist on head with Stilson, shears off every time.
