From the spelling I can only assume he is an American, if he is Australian he would be an "arse hole". (I wonder if he knows what the G20 is?)

I totally agree and I'm one of the arseholes in question.

Hey, if i'm going to agree I'm an asshole, I'll agree that you're one too (only to be agreeable :-). BTW, what's this G20 stuff???

Maybe with a couple of nips of vodka... Da Kamerad, all of a sudden, western capitalist economics seems obvious! Especially when you have heaps of oil and the highest mountain in Europe!!

I thought the reaction to Stugangs post was over the top.

His reference to the stamp collecting club I read as tongue in cheek, as self depriciating as much as anything else. Hell we're all sitting in front of an inanimate object making opinions about an activity that in the grand scheme of things is only consequential to the participants. And we at the moment are sitting in front of an inanimate object.

Mulch and Wombat are thick skinned.

Stugangs point that the "sin" so to speak is directly be hammering an individual was I reckon a large point of what he wrote. This is how I read it anyway.

If people can't call others arse holes then they should not have any personal opinions, in truth or jest of others.

And most importantly who is going to call me an arse hole now!

I'm going to call you one for lowering me off that single manky ring on Sunday that was held in with car bog whilst cracking jokes about how bog doesn't give any indication of failure - it just fails. (Picture poor old thin skinned Mulchy doing a speed downclimb on greasy sandstone!!!).

I'd prefer that to being lowered by you with your magic tricked out Gri Gri.

Now that's some scary shit!

I've been thinking and I reckon that's Stugang has been treated pretty badly.

If he's been sent to the sidelines for calling me and Mulch arseholes, then why was one day zero allowed to post an entire thread calling me f'uckwit of the week and get away with it ?

Stugangs comments were obviously said in jest whereas ODZ's comments were almost certainly designed to be malicious and start a flame war.

The only difference I can see is that ODZ didn't have a go at the mods and Stugang did.

If this is the case, I think a few others around here should thicken up their skins, if you know what I mean?

Toughen up princesses!

well thats probably it, when someone tells you to play nice and you take their PM public and misquote them, its not surprising you get a slap on the wrist for it.

He has been warned before about such behaviour.
He has had one of his other user ids disabled permanently in the past due to pushing the limits of Chockstone policy.

Here is part of a PM to him at that time.
On 1/05/2008 Chockstone Moderator PM’d stugang:

He appears to have a short memory and that is why he received the recent PM and the result that happened after it with little scope for leniency.

Time out is not permanent, and he will be allowed back.

The F.W.O.T.W. Awards thread tended to correct itself.
There was a subsequent thread run as a poll about retaining it, and the result was roughly an even split.
The middle ground taken by a Chockstone Moderator was to lock the original (even though it was made light of in the end), offending thread.

Hey, my tricked out Gri-gri is done fully to Bomber Pro's design. I've decided it makes it somewhat useful and doesn't make me feel like a sports climbing pussy when I use it :-).

Now, back to the ODZ thing. What narks me about ODZ is that I don't mind us slagging each other off publicly, as long as you know who is doing it (and so wallwombat can carry out his threat to punch someone in the head next time he sees them at the crag). See? Everything then has checks and balances. Feel free to slag someone off as long as you are willing to take the consequences. What ODZ has done is assume the persona of Damien Jovanovic, a Canberra climber. It was (according to Damo) a joke carried out on him when he was going to Araps once, and ODZ set up a Chocky login under Damo's name and advertised for a female who could 'cook and belay'. Prolly quite funny at the time. Since then, ODZ has maintained the persona and uses it to snipe at people anonymously. Damo has since told me that ODZ is 'an older Canberra climber whose photo is in the ACT Granite Guide'. OK, here's the list, who wants to play eliminations?

People appearing in the ACT Granite Guide:
Justing Ryan
Cameron O'Neill
Chris Larque
John Smart
Peter Mills
Peter Morris
Rod Young
Andrew Bull
Tony Barten
Mike Peck
Jamie Valdivia
Mike Law-Smith
Gordon Poultney
Joe Friend
Paul Daniel
Dave Jenkins
Damien Jones
Ray Lassman
Richard Watts
Adam Blizzard
George Fieg
Dave McGregor
Robyn Cleland
Mark Leonard
Ken Luck
John Carlson
John Finnigan
Simon Carter
Jonathon Edwards
Ed Garnett
Steve Chey
Peter Sands

To start with I know it's not M L-S as he hates forums, not Jamie Valdivia is he is a decent chap, and highly unlikely Simon Carter.

It's a bit of a worry when the tin for the car bog (holding the rings in) is still stashed in an alcove at the bottom of the crag and the tin is so old it is almost rusted through. There was a lump hammer there too and WW&S identified the karibiner that was in the handle as being the same batch as was used on the 1953 Everest expedition...

oh no, dont get me wrong... i think thats awesome, and hillarious :) they should make some sort of mini series... you take your beaten up cam in and they pimp it up with lightening bolts, perlescent 3 tone paint, orange fur and mount an intake 3 times the size of it on the handle.... dont know where they would put the spoiler on a hex tho....

ok.. its 3.00pm and the mania has set in.... *goes for a walk before office makes insanity stay forever*
