Maybe we need to add another option to this poll: Yes, climb it and take a dump at the top. Apparently some people think that's ok.

It might be less a matter of thinking its OK and more of a matter of desperation. Huge numbers of people climb Uluru and the law of averages states that some of them are going to get caught short. However, it's one more reason for putting an end to climbing and one more reason why people should do guided tours around the base IMHO.

Sorry, I forget that some people aren't built like alarm clocks.

... and the numbers are probably boosted by the number of people who are on the top when the full impact of now having to descend what they had just climbed up hits.

"Wait till you get there to make your mind up." Can you clarify what this option covers now?

From today climbing Uluru is prohibited.

Interesting that it went without a whimper amongst the climbing fraternity as far as my limited social media engagement could detect...

The times are indeed changing.

Maybe we'd feel safer having an opinion about it if the Grampians bans weren't so serious, and who wants to be discussing the ability to walk up a big rock, as opposed to getting back access to real climbing.

It seems reasonable to me that many climbers would not oppose this ban. It was never "climbing" after all. I wonder if all the chains and hand rails the government bolted in will be removed?
