Easter Henry Barber Reenactment Days at Araps

Following on from the success of the Hot Henry weekend, I was keen to sound out the potential for a similar 'Wolfy' weekend. I was thinking it could be cool to get a whole lot of people together, and using the kit of the day (shitty boots and tights), send some of wolfy's climbs such as 'wisdom of body' and 'punks'. perhaps we could set up a campus board in the pines and do some mono-doigt campussing over some beers

Much interest?

Some more photos of Dave's glorious re-enactment ascent of Karma Sutra.

The Cossey's are keen for some Wolfy action later in the year. Maybe they'll throw in a lap of WoB and some
mono campussing to boot.

I didn't realise Henry's ascent involved resting on the rope.

Good effort Dave. At least you got dressed for the occasion and gave it a bash unlike some soft c--ks (myself included).

I'd like to see a repeat (by anyone) of the Mark Moorhead '81 list. Then again, the Jon Muir FA list would arguably be even more impressive to repeat.

Thanks for the visual feedback duglash and ademmert.

Very impressive indeed.

As a bumbly who has difficulty on the adjacent Scorpion chimney start, it makes my arms tired just looking at the Karma Sutra contortions!

There's been a terrible mistake! I thought Barber was the guy who did the original aid ascent...I went out
of my way to make sure pulled on every piece (at least once) but on consulting the guide book it appears
I should have been dressed up in a chris baxter suit. If only I'd known!

Who are these guys and are they still alive?

As previously reported, Lyle Closs is doing the jumping. Ken McConnell (unfortunately no longer still with us) is belaying, and Kevin Kiernan is standing. Yours truly took the photograph.

The last I heard Lyle Closs was living (and working) in London and writing novels. He did email me a long time ago (after an ego search) but that was on an old PC that I no longer have, so I don't have any contact details.

He's in London, but is actually working in advertising. I haven't heard from him for a few months, but I know those who have.
To get this thread slightly more on topic, here's a picture of Lyle and Henry together back in '75.

Yes I'm still alive - living in London and still climbing. Funny how that article keeps popping up. I believe the galah has gone but the gnome is still on Albert's Tomb, after all those years. Stefan Karpiniec came round to our place one morning with his car full of garden gnomes - his brother had borrowed his car the night before, had a bit to drink and proceeded to empty Hobart gardens of their gnomes. So we had a fun day placing them in hard to reach places on the Organ Pipes.

Ha! Came face to face to face with one of those fellas the other day. Think it was on the rambly top pitch of Dirge ...

Mystery solved

I think the "Organ Pipes" is the climbers name for Mt Wellington in Hobart Tasmania!
Not the organ pipes at Mt Arapiles where Dirge is located.

Now, am I to assume that when everyone talks about this "reenactment ascent" they all lowered off from the end of p1? 'Cos (see my GTAT thread) that second pitch didn't look like it had seen much traffic recently. Doesn't that make it a half-reenactment? Does Henry sanction that sort of activity?
