Does anyone know anything about the current access situation for Warragul Rocks? I'm planning on heading up this weekend with a group of people from MUMC but this number doesn't seem to get anywhere - just rings for a full minute or so then cuts out, no voicemail service or anything.

Has anyone been up recently and managed to contact this guy?

Spoke to Ron a few months ago, but I recall it took a couple of tries. Keep trying.
Very friendly and accommodating. In the end we didn't bother to borrow the key, the walk in from the chain takes all of about 120 seconds.

Fantastic to hear Ron is still the land owner. He is a great supporter of rock climbers. All he asks is that people respect his right as a land owner and to contact him prior to accessing his property. Plan ahead & organise access. If you can't contact him please climb somewhee else.

When this access issue first arose about 12 - 15 years ago we contacted Ron & organised a VCC trip up there. His main issue was 4wd users not respecting private property access and ripping out his entrance gates. If climbers continue to do the right thing, access will continue into the future.

Got through to Ron eventually on Friday evening (he returned my several missed calls). He was really friendly and supportive and very happy for us to climb there, but certainly his concern was that people ask permission first. He said he doesn't carry his phone very often but will return calls and messages (however he has no voicemail).

Also, excellent climbing at Warragul Rocks! Really recommended for a day or two. Good quality rock and a nice variety of routes
