well so far ive clocked a little north of 7k, but i still have to get; 2nd display, profiling/colour management setup, adobe software package, & my hard drive rig (5 bay eSATA, probly with 5 x 500 or 750Gb 7200rpm drives)... so i'd be surprised if i get more than loose change from 10k

WOW! I'm very jealous. if you get any change at all for 10k i'd be surprised. My old 17" G4 has just
about given up the ghost for anything more then word processing.

Exactly. Not to mention costs of upgrading your camera every few years ... Does anyone still claim digital photography is cheap compared to film? I don't seem to hear that as much these days.

Do you HAVE to upgrade your camera every few years Simon?

Good point. I always worked with the maxim "film is the cheapest part of photography". My DSLR system seems to be creating regular damage to the credit card at the moment.

Mind you, I am 'stoked' with my new 11-22mm lens .. Burnley yesterday afternoon ..

(Do you mean me personally or in general?). Of course you don't have to with film cameras, they can last decades. But with digital, given the rate they've improving and changing, then if you want to get the best quality results then you probably would want to upgrade every few years. If you're not too worried about best quality then it's not going to matter too much.

no wuckers, thanks for the opportunity!

as for upgrading film cameras- i still shoot some film, mainly on an F4s that would be about 25 years old? still works a treat and i reckon it takes way better photos than many of the new fandangled digis. actually i think its what i took to bungonia last time i went (with zac & graham, when i shot the FA of 'A Jealous Mistress')
one day i still plan on (or dream about) getting a 'blad 503cw or similar to play with, i doubt ill have to upgrade that very often :)

i used to think that film was more expensive because digi was just an initial outlay & i was spending 90% of my income of film & processing, but then i realised that my income would have been lucky to push $200/month & that digi is like a high maintenance girlfriend

... so when are you coming to Buffalo?
(I tried sending this to you as a PM but your PM box is full ...)

I'm stoked (retro entry for 6/6/08) bc I got a new comfy wall harness /shiny bling!

I'm stoked (today) bc a new member to Chockstone turns out to be an old climbing partner who I have not heard from for many years. He Pm'd me today and it is good to renew the contact.

Tried Pm'ing fish boy but his mail box is full also ...
(So once again I am putting up on a thread ...)

Don't know the current situation, but back when I got my ledge it was from Aust rep of BD. When I tried to get a fly for it, I ended up buying it from a UK supplier due being majorly stuffed around by BD here in Aust.

Are you chasing wall gear?

Since earlier this year BD no longer sell direct into Australia. They said something to me about showing increased respect for their Australian distributor, Sea to Summit.

I'm stoked that I'm driving up to the Warrumbungles tomorrow, even though I foresee it being nut-freezing trip.
