Although it aint got much to do with climbing, Im stoked that I just got Optus Wireless Broadband today, a ginormous step upwards from dialup! Still not as good as ADSL but since I (apparently) live out in the sticks I cant get it

One of the benefits of the bowline is that you can tie it one hand whilst fending of ants with the other . .
Stoked to discover yet another good reason why to still use it as knot of choice to tie in . . .

Stoked I finally got out to check out the bouldering at Black Range, which I found to be excellent. It was about 6 degrees cooler up there under the canopy of eucalypts and there are boulders everywhere. Finally I have a climbing option that is feasible when it's stinking hot and it's only an hour away from home.
We couldn't believe we were the only ones up there. Certainly beats baking at Booroomba.
Woo bloody hoo!

Well, we went to Mt Coree and got stoked there. Early start from Canberra (6.30am) and off by midday, but the temperature was excellent and the rock was good quality. The road in was fine also. I think it must be one of Canberra's most under rated crags (especially if you're sick of granite).

What's the rock at Mt Coree? It's granite up at Black Range isn't it?

Mulch is a vegetable scientist not a geologist. Calling Corree not granite is a bit like a is a cucumber a fruit or vegetable debate.
evan, its close enough to granite. granite

Being a vegetable scientist, I can safely say that Mt Coree is Rhyolite. Very fine and angular rock. Photographic evidence will follow.

I get up at 6am five days a week. I'm buggered if I'm going to do it on a Sunday.
Glad you had a good day though.
I've decided that I'm not roping up again until this putrid weather is gone and it gets cooler. I'm going to be a pad-person in the forest, until it does.
And to get it back on track, I'm stoked I stuck the biggest dyno I've ever attempted yesterday.
Yee hah!

Sounds like you need to do a Mt Coree morning - 1400m - cool and in the shade until midday - we weren't even sweating and Canberra had a forecast temp for the day in the mid thirties. Stoked to find a new worthy crag (well, ok, maybe it was first climbed fifty years ago, but I reckon that it was Canberra's first developed crag because it is an old achool classic of a crag - as well as being nothing like granite).

Mr Wallwombat, there's only two things I've never seen you refuse, clipping a bolt or the offer of a beer... I also got some trad in as well as some serious bolt clipping (err, and hanging - we had to test them all).

Come on Mr Mulch!
Surely you can think of a third thing.
