Seeing as this thread is going so well. I have been wondering "Prefer Knitting what's with your user icon?" Is it a picture of a c--ktail or a c--kroach or perhaps a map of Sc--thorpe?

As a Country Member, you really have too much time on your hands.

If I recall correctly it was a buxom (very*) lass but the mods objected to the graphic? so PK obliged by cancelling it?

A search may turn up more clues if PK does not fill in the gap,

Hey,
although late in my reply. As it was my first post i didn't realise the conversation would continue to such lengths until asked about it at nuna this week. After reviewing the discussion to clarify the issue completely it went like this.....
- nuna called me and gave me the theifs number
- i called him and arraged to pick up the goods
- being female and picking it up at an unknown male place i gave my location and time of arrive and estimated departure to a couple of people - just in chase - though still thought i would be able to take him on if something happened - thought if there was four or five of them then maybe i might be in trouble.
- they asked me to come out back to get it - which concerned me further
- then they appeared extremely nice (very unthief like) but made the joke that they weren't sure how they were going to sell the stuff on ebay as they didn't know what it was (some joke, think not!)
- also they mentioned that they had thrown out the food in the back pack and re-packed it for me, they informed me that this occured whilst looking for my identification - right??

Anyway, got out alive with full rack etc
Thanks for the entertaining version of events and i'll check more regularly when next i post a message.
cheers

So they called Hardrock with the intent to sell?

If so how did you get then to give in to you without payment?

and then, after getting your gear, you rang the cops who arrived sirens blazing and threw them in jail.. right ?

....and being the good samaritain you are, you are now looking after the thieve's cat...

who unbeknown to you, will somedown down the track, seek a horrible revenge for having its owners jailed...

Only after four or five people would you begin to feel overpowered! Wow, you must be some strong-assed woman.

Glad you got your stuff back. Though, I'm still unconvinced that they had bad intentions. Bad humour, maybe.

Had put up a sign around the area - reward offered to anyone as climbing gear had high centimental value (well, who would know what it was worth!!) Had proposed beer as a reward in my head but hadn't specified -quickly removed all the signs before i went. i think finding the day old food in my bag was reward enough for them???

Nuna states the "minders" (true shouldn't implicate them as doing anything wrong they did give the stuff back) found my lead pass - shows that bright yellow pass that kept falling off me was better off in my bag than on my harness.

But who know what business discussions occured before i got my call though......

Why do you say that your neighbours are thieves?

The joke about ebay is exactly the kind of joke that someone might make in this situation; either to break the ice, or as an indirect way of saying: "you're lucky I'm honest and returned it to you".

How did nuna(warring?) get involved? Did your neighbours approach them trying to *sell* the gear, or trying to find out who owned the gear? f the latter, you'd be way out of line in calling them thieves.

I've had all my own gear stolen recently, so I am no friend of people who steal climbing gear. But so far, unless I have missed it, you've said nothing to support your description of your neighbours as thieves.

Sounds a bit bizarre that "Thieves" would steal your gear and have no idea how to sell it, so they then decide to go through a fairly lengthy process of finding a way to return it to you ( Whilst showing you where they live and giving you there number). Rather than going "Screw this I cant sell it so ill just dump it".
I dont know how serious you are in believing and calling them "Thieves" but if I was one of these "Thieves" and found my good name being slandered by someone who had there expensive gear go missing and I returned it to them, Well........ I'd be pretty pissed off, if you know I mean.
How about you go buy these "Thieves" a few beers and at least be thankfull that your gears all back to you.
CHEERS!!!!

Did you report it to the police, Ti? If blood was left on the lock, there would be a good chance that the police could swab the lock and get a DNA profile from it. There would be a very good chance that the person who did it has their DNA profile on the Vicpol database. If one matches the other, bingo. It's not going to get your gear back, but you might feel a sense of revenge!

The other thing, check with Recycled Recreation and Cash Converters and see if the gear has been pawned. I would imagine tiny midget sized harnesses would be easy to identify. ;-)
