I have only used my moderating powers a few times over the years. Didn't use it in this case either.

Of the few occassions (mostly to delete SPAM), I once edited one of your comments. The whinging about that went on for far too long...

There is a common theme with these anonymous posters. Anger and hate. Hate and anger. I find it hilarious that you can't even spell the right words during your attempt to slag off the very-well-educated Mr Marsh. It just highlights the gaping abyss that defines the difference between your respective levels of intelligence.

Next time you find yourself staring at the wall and wondering why people no longer call you up to say hi, the answer is that you're so darn negative all the time!

Cigarette breaks banned
From:
April 01, 2006

Banned ... Workers claim the move discriminates against smokers : WORKERS at a major government department have been banned from taking cigarette breaks during office hours, setting a precedent for workplaces nationwide.

Under the new rules, public servants will only be allowed to smoke during their lunch hour.
Those breaking the ban will be disciplined with verbal and written warnings and counselling.

Smoking will also be banned within 15m of the government department's offices.

More than 3000 staff employed Australia-wide by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources and its associated agencies will be hit by the new rules.

Department chief Mark Paterson told The Daily Telegraph he issued the new edict primarily because of health issues.

"We're moving into a new premises in October that incorporates a childcare centre and I don't want parents and children to be confronted by a phalanx of smokers out the front of the building," he said.
"We're giving people plenty of notice and we're providing financial support for quit programs and other courses. I'm prepared to consider providing support to employees' spouses if that assists them in giving up, too.

"We can't restrict what people do outside of hours and during their lunch hours but we can do so during working hours."

Friends Christina Prineas and Kristi Armstrong, who were enjoying a break within 15m of the department building, strongly objected to the ban yesterday.

" *I c#n't believe it* -- it's a form of discrimination," said Ms Armstrong, a smoker.

"I work at the Tax Office, and maybe 80 per cent of our office smokes. A ban just wouldn't work."

Ms Prineas, who works at nearby Airservices Australia, said she was a non-smoker but still objected to the ban. "They shouldn't be able to restrict your freedoms like that," she said.

Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.

Don't give in to hate. That leads to the Dark Side!

The smoking ban will be interesting to watch how it pans out, as to where else smoking will be banned.

Initially thought this was a April fools joke with the Authors name being Nicolette Burke (very similar to Nicorette Break), but appears to have been picked up by quite a few local news groups so could be legitimate!

At the Commonwealth MTBing at Lysterfield, sercurity were enforcing a no smoking ban out on the couse saying that smoking is banned in National Parks...

And no, I couldn't care less if it were banned! I dislike going into large Shopping complexes at the best of times, but dislike even more having to run the gauntlet of smoke and smokers that always hover like lepers near the entrances!

Aaah, so that's why you turned into a boulderer! Still, our recent 'roped' efforts have seen you returning to the light at last.

but dislike even more having to run the gauntlet of smoke and smokers that always hover like lepers near the entrances!

Lepers? I'm not like a leper! I never leave any bits behind (except the shredded tips occasionally found blowing on the wind around the Youies.)

Sorry StuckInLara, didn't mean to offend. But smokers do look a sorry lot huddled together infront of entrances puffing away!

As to tying into a rope recently, I will deny everything!! No photographic evidence...

Mazda? That's so 80s (like that V8 in the other thread.)
I was out at the 'Piles just after Christmas but saw no familiar faces (I'm assuming your face would be familiar.)
Who is selling milkshakes in Nati these days?
