What about us locals get a friendly climbing contest happening for this Mike?
Prizes for: hardest tick of the day (M & F), best new route (just ask Pat where ;-) ), weirdest climbing apparel (might stand a chance on that one), strangest climbing posture. Are there any other suggestions??? D'you reckon Steve would donate some givaways for prizes? It sounds like a blast.

Sounds like a good idea! Hopefully someone will lead some of the harder ticks so I can get some video! Re prizes, with any luck Steve will come along himself.

Gathering idea #42, how about a new (commemorative) route, "donated" to the website.
Surely we can find a new line (there are some largish boulders around the hill too).
And how about everyone comes up with a route name, put them in a helmet, read them out and the most popular becomes the new route name?

I think the idea of a GATHERING is great.... I think a competition could take some of the 'friendliness' out of it.

I know a good game to play. You place little bonus items on key holds/bolts of the routes - things like choc bars, carabiners, beer ect. First person to climb the route gets the bonus items. The harder the climb the more valuable the gift!!

My suggestion for the route name is
'Inaugural Chockstone Gathering Route'
Next year is CGR2 etc
It will be a buzz for someone to put up the celebratory (and much coveted), 'Chockstone Gathering Centenary Route' in 100 years to come!
We need to document this auspicious (inaugral) occasion for posterity so the traditionalists of the future can say "Hey there is grandpa Mike, God rest his soul ..." etc when they review the archives.
Other comments might be; " gee fancy climbing with ropes attached and carrying all that stuff for pro, they were certainly into hard work back then!"

I like the commemorative new route idea.
As for the name, how about 'McPuppy Burger' ?
Keeps the Dog Rocks / meat eating thing going nicely don't you think? ;-)

Just to let you all know, the bbq tralier is booked for that weekend. The cookplate is big enough to cook for 15-20 ppl at a time, and the esky will fit about 5 slabs.
All we need now is a non-climbing bbq chef to attend it. Any volunteers???

I have been known to move deceased animals about on slabs of hot steel, and there are some questions about whether what I do, actually constitutes climbing, so I guess I can help out there...
