'...Pulled out the two wires that I'd determined fit perfectly in the placements. For some reason, they didn't. Shit. Panic. Fighting the pump, wires won't go in, start overgripping, increasing the pump. If I fall now I'll hit the ground. Now overwhelming panic. Entire body shaking. A small crowd has gathered in shocked silence. Elbows start to rise, I'm coming off. I can feel tears forming in the corners of my eyes and my chest feels like it's being squeezed. I begin to bang my forehead against the rock repeatedly. This is my way of forcing myself to calm down...'

'...Think back to the end of 1999. Millions of people were afraid of the coming New Year. 2000. Y2K. People were afraid that power would fail, that bombs would be unleashed at random, that chaos would reign in the streets. As it turned out, though, nothing much happened. Midnight struck, the calendar clicked over to a new year, a new decade, a new century, a new (some would say) millennium, and life went on as normal.

Now we have reached another 2000. Iraq 2K. Two thousand american soldiers...'

Yes ... very mis-understood thing, all this ... " awwww I love the adrenalin rush !!! " ...

' it hurts so bad ' is adrenalin mixed with cortisol , to give you that sickening feeling in the guts in the initial stages of suvival-awareness and the ' feels so good ' is the post survival-awareness-high that comes when the bio-chem-c--ktail rapidly changes&morphs as the cortisol is sWEPT away and the remaining adrenalin dances merrily with a big release of endorphins .... the bodyz very own morphine-a-quiv-a-lent ...

... very addictive ...... for some .......... who dare to return ......... then as one becomes more confident/competent ... the # of endorphin-related-highz start to way-out-weigh the sickly ... 'shudder'...encounterz ...

'...I have an idea to sell.

At the Pines there's lots of different campfires, each one has a different conversation going on, with different people talking. Some people wander from fire to fire and soak up the warmth and ideas and never say a word. Some fires get stoked and others burn out early. At one of the fires a bunch of gear junkies are debating the specs of the latest equipment. People leave. A nearby campsite can overhear the tech talk and their discussion of whether Bard is really a 12 is being affected. They start talking about whether tricams stick to guano better than nuts. At another campfire multiple personalities mutter mispelt poetry to themselves and chuck an aerosol can in. It explodes. He sniggers.

We are all sitting around the Chockstone campfire/campsite spamming each other with our ideas, selling our stories, being part of the conversation...'
