The whole thing around their president doesn't inspire me with confidence.

Maybe once they've sorted out who they are and what they are doing?

… by which time the whole of Victoria will be out of bounds to climbers.
If climbers do nothing, that's exactly what well be left with.

Did you even read the article? ACAV would have done what?

I was optimistic based on the official announcement. Unfortunately just got off the phone with someone very close to the situation who said some things that have made me extremely pessimistic about the future of all climbing at Arapiles!

They way it's going climbing will become an indoor activity only. I look fwd to regaling those born after 2020 about the forbidden history of climbing on real rock. Climbing guides will be banned literature......

Probably closer to the situation is Stuart Harradine, Manager On Country Operations for Barengi Gadjin Land Council, who is quoted on the front page of the Wimmera Mail-Times today : "So we're hoping to alleviate people's fears (that) Traditional Owners want to close down all climbing at Mount Arapiles. That's not the case."

I seem to remember there was a mention of a painting on the wall of Excuse I 30-40 years ago. If there was, it didn't seem to warrant a fuss back then. And I've heard rumours of other paintings being found at some of the more obscure places at Arapiles. And what of the quarry? There could be more areas off limits in the future.

Again as I said Kieran I am optimistic based on such comments above, but actions and not words that count and I still hope a balanced outcome will be the result.

I can't go into detail with who I spoke with and what he said as it may comprise them. I have no reason to doubt their comments or concerns! I won't be buying property in Nati any time soon based on the later!

Until someone can explain why climbing there is an issue , in logic , not animistic occult claptrap (I dont subscribe to Mithraic sun cult fairytales imposed on me in my own family and society so why accept anyone elses?) I will climb there anytime I like. I never climbed Uluru for a very good reason , that is , the LOCAL people would be hurt and offended because of the signicance to THEM. Locals at Dec crag or the Gramps for that matter have not expressed this to the public with any effect. I call Bullsh#t. I know of many artsites here in Blueys where a road or railway ploughs right through it or beside it. When are the CORPORATE THUGS to shut the roads and railways down up here. Such wankers.

@ never climbed Uluru because of locals feelings but calling BS on Wimmera locals feelings?
Big call.
Obviously out of your sight is out of your mind.

Blueys got 3 Sisters climbing banned, and probably more to come now the sleeping injustice is waking up.

Oh , the sleeping injustice? , you mean multi million dollar glamping trails? Three Sisters was created in 1987 mate. Thanks for your logical explanation.

Yes, I too was once a super annoying teenage atheist.

I relish the moments when some condescending tool asks "would you climb on a cathedral?", because my prepared reply is; "No, because the movement sucks. I do, however, boulder on the National Library of Australia every week, and it's awesome, go fuch yourself!"

But to the point at hand, logic. I have been climbing at Arapiles for 25 years, and in that time I've climbed at Dec Crag precisely twice. It just isn't very good. Little Thor is a short one move wonder and there's real reasons that so many people deck out. There's some easy shit which I've never done nor care to do. Steps Ahead?..................why the fuch would I drive 750kms to dog a hard slab? I can do that at home. So you're going to drive all the way down there to climb at a mediocre little crag and cause dramas for the people negotiating access, all because you never grew out of your militant teenage atheist phase? Get over yourself.

Ta da, logic.

There are some good lines. Hit the Deck is a good 6, Look Sharp a fun 4 amongst the other routes.

You may consider Dec crag an easy give away, but reality there will be TO history throughout the whole park.

They're not that good. Easily 20 routes of each grade better than those at the Mount.

I'm not saying give it away, I'm saying that Evan driving down from the Blueys to engage in a protest climb at Dec Crag will not help anything, and only an idiot would drive all the way from the Blueys to Araps to climb those particular routes.

You know the goobers who drive interstate to proj Ergonomics just because it's a soft touch almost sport route and they don't have the fortitude to get on Procul or Yesterday or one of the good routes? This is the same as that, but with added dickishness.

Don't agree with anyone climbing on Dec crag in protest, just the reality this is just the tip of the iceberg...
