Hello to all the Victorian Climbing Community,

Does your local gym have a Treadwall (preferably the M6)? If so what gym do you go to within Victoria?

Cheers,

Don't be shy, tell us what you really think bro.

Ps, it might be helpful to also elaborate on what it is that you don't like about them?

I've never used one but from what I've seen and heard they have a niche if you're aiming at total gumbies, young school kids, children's parties and such, particularly the smaller mobile treadwall versions.
They're more of a novelty fad than real training or climbing.

The go to man for real knowledge on them is bro abommerisible puff who sometimes hangs about here. Failing that bro's simey, Ed, or Jayford4321 can prolly help out, as they know the grips.

I have a mate who has one and he rates it quite highly. Ive played on it a bit, you can adjust the angle and vary the speed which it moves at, real good for working on endurance. Its a lot of money to invest, if I had the funds spare I would probably get one but they are quite expensive. The height and base areas of holds which will fit on it can be a limiting factor. the wider wall options will allow more variety of route setting.

This was my view before trying one. If you ever have to help move one this will definitely be your view while moving it (very heavy).

Have you used ever used one?

Used to use the one at the end of my training sessions at City Rock in Berserkley back in the 90's. Actually found it a great way to finish off a session.

Started with it at 45 degrees - climbed till failure. Immediately cranked it down the 35 degrees and went again till failure. Repeated dropping 10 degrees each time with the only recovery the time it took to crank it back...

Having said that, I wouldn't use it as a primary training tool and wouldn't consider buying one even if I had the money or space.

Edit: just looked at the Treadwall M6 - consider that rubbish in comparison to the one I used. Only goes +12 to -12 degrees and isn't motorised.
