Hi all,

Andy P here again. Am desperately seeking a copy of an old VHS tape (my copy's deteriorated) of a short video Ian Smith made in the late 1980s. I think it was called 'Peak Techbique' (But spelt properly).

Sadly nobody seems to have a copy - despite two years of 'Think so's' & PMs) but if there's anyone out there please - please, PM me and I'll more than happily cover all & any expenses in digitising it to complete my little retro gritstone video for your viewing hilarity... Heck! I'll even send a copy of me new book to your worst enemy...!

In the meantime here's a teaser link to a new video: https://youtu.be/9T2cDXASHKs

Cheers,

Andy.

Hi Andy,

You could try contacting Ian Smith if he's available. You might be able to email him through his UKC profile:

Thanks Karl,
Indeed, been trying for two years but sadly...
BTW, the corny falling off's from something entirely different off a US cable channel and by way of a qualification: This IS a total self P-take....
Cheers,
Andy.

Have you been asking folk on UKC? Surely someone back in blighty must have a copy.

The falling off clip is Masters of the Universe at Burbage isn't it? Seems most people clip a runner on the end of the abseil rope these days but it looks like you didn't do that, in which case the flight must've been fun the first time you took it. Similarly, while Looking for Ian Smith on UKC I came across a photo of Martin Veale leaping across "Big Air" at Stanage which he missed first go and threaded the gully remarkably without injury. In the logbook entries for that route now it seems everyone either stacks up 10 bouldering mats in the slot or they wait for a big winter snow dump to fill it and then boulder it and claim to have done it. Something missing from their experience methinks.

Cheers, Karl

Hi Karl, thanks.
Yep, correct on all points, Martin V was in the video too.
Have exhausted old contacts from back in Blighty hence the desperate plea here in Upsidedown-world.
Regards,
A.
