Attention all Adventure timers!

We're back with a bunch of exciting speakers for your entertainment, education and motivation.

On Thursday the 4th of December from 7:30pm come to Stucco Housing Co-op at 197 Wilson St, Newtown, for talks by:

MONIQUE FORESTIER

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
‘It’s Not All High Five’s and Red Bull’

Hailing from the Blue Mountains, Monique Forestier has been climbing for over 17 years and confesses that she is a climbing fanatic. For the last 10 years she has been at the forefront of Australian women’s climbing, her many notable achievements include becoming the first Australian female to climb routes graded 31, 32 and 33. Her background in elite gymnastics, allowed her to progress quickly from gym to rock and this is where she discovered her real passion for climbing.

Monique has focussed on her dreams and set personal challenges with her climbing. In the process she has travelled extensively and tackled a diverse range of hard rock climbs around the world; some of the 18 countries that she has visited include Madagascar, China, Vietnam, Borneo, USA and Spain. Monique has authored numerous articles about these explorations. She loves coaching climbing, connecting with people and passing on her secrets to other enthusiastic climbers. Now at age 41 and the mother of a five year-old, she is as psyched about her climbing as ever and is still pushing her limits.

SIMON CARTER

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
‘Australia exposed'

One of the most widely known names in Australian climbing, Simon has photographed climbing professionally for 20 years all over the world. Tonight he has some stunning images to show and some stories to tell about Australian climbing in particular.

In the last few years he has zealously photographed the unique perspectives and climbing action at every major area in Australia for his new coffee-table book – Rock Climbing Down Under.

Simon has a unique perspective on Australian climbing and our place in the world. Come on a journey with spectacular images whilst he tells some tales and makes sense of it all.... and yes, you will be able to get your hands on a signed edition of Rock Climbing Down Under.

ALEX ALLCHIN & SIERRA CLASSEN

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
‘Dunphy's Kowmung adventure'
Alex and Sierra are avid outdoor adventurers. They specialise in bushwalking, but they both enjoy a good canyon or a climb. Usually, they go out adventuring in small groups with their friends and their respective bushwalking clubs. However, this Adventure Time, Alex and Sierra will be talking about the time they took over 50 people on a walk to commemorate the beginning of the Conservation Movement and the popularisation of long distance off track bushwalking in NSW.

Alex and Sierra will share with you some of the strange and exciting details of this trip and its historical background. They will bring you anecdotes, old bushwalking gear, traditional clothing, photos, and maps. Their trip was inspired by the tale of Myles Dunphy and Bert Gallop’s explorations along the swollen Kowmung River. Planned along the same route, it celebrates the journey of a new generation of conservation and bushwalking in 2014.

People - you can't afford to miss this one and remember, It's all but free! (we will "pass the hat around" so we can cover our speaker's travel costs and a small donation will help)

BYO drinks.

Doors will open at 7:30pm and speakers from 8pm sharp (we really mean it this time)

Tell your friends! Hope to see you there.
