Passing through Dunkeld, Grampians a couple of hours ago, saw an ambulance chopper near summit of mt. Sturgeon. Binoculars out and saw 2, maybe 3 people on a ledge about 70-100 metres from the top. SES confirmed they were roped climbing. If you're mates are climbing out that way, they seemed quite calm on a big ledge, and the emergency services in the area didn't seem too distressed by the situation. It looked to me like a straight forward extraction. Anyway, hope all goes well for them!

A ROCKFALL has trapped two men on a mountain ledge in Victoria.
A search helicopter and specialist rope teams have been sent to Mt Sturgeon, in the state's west, in a bid to rescue the pair.
Police received a mobile phone call from the men, aged 36 and 26, after the fall occurred about 1.30pm (AEST).
It is understood they do not have climbing harnesses

So the rock fell and they froze?

Choppers have been around all night, and I could still see the search and rescue lanterns on the summit from my house at around 11pm last night. Hopefully everything is going alright.

This report from the Warrnambool Standard says that they were walkers who had left the track. Rescued after 7 hours yesterday.

Supposedly they came stuck on the ledge through curiosity. They reached the summit, the decided to investigate below the main buttress of the summit. Were on a ledge, and jumped to another to keep traversing around. When it got time to go back they realized the ledge the originally jumped from was to small to land on... Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
