Splitter Choss published a top 5 list of things developers say to get you to go to their new crag: http://www.splitterchoss.com/2013/02/21/the-top-5-things-developers-say-to-get-you-to-their-crag/
I would've called them the top 5 lies... I'm sure there's others that are more common here though...
What porkies have you been told in an attempt to get you out to a specific crag or route (or what lies did you tell to get someone to come along)?

Instead of posting this here I would have simply PMed it directly to Joe Goding or Neil Monteith.

A wise person once said to me: "the number of people coming along on one of _____'s trips bears a direct relationship to the number of days before the trip starts" or words to that effect.
Where the relevant name might be one of those mentioned above.
Said wise person no longer lives in Victoria though.
I'll leave the rest for everyone to puzzle over.

Hero's devotion to this area of climbing must surely surpass anything anyone else has done.

Love the premise, pity the article is confused and crap.
So...developers are putting up routes for others to enjoy - yet don't want any recognition, are paragons of generosity but masters of deception. Right-o.
Did make me think back to some of the chimerical descriptions I've heard from developers of new Blueys crags over the last 10 years:
- the rock is super solid,
- the routes are really sustained,
- there's hardly any breaks,
- it features way differently to normal Blueys rock
- it's like two Wave Walls stacked on top of each other
- it looks a bit like like Taipan Wall (I kid you not!)

Such noble beings with motives being purely to service the community. Could they just be doing it cos it's fun!?!
"you just pull on the ticked holds and its fine..."
"its the best x in northern tasmania", where x = only climb of that genre longer than 10m

"It's the next Andersons" is a phrase that has motivated me towards all sorts of stupidity, pointless/endless hikes and chossy rubble heaps. The phrase still works to; if any of you know the location of the next Andersons i'm totally down, hit me up, seriously.

Not naming names...but GFDonc suckered a budding cinematographer into filming Australia's longest climb (on a secret/over looked cliff)...I believe a mega dose of coffee wasn't a sufficient stimulant to keep 'said' cameraman awake.
