Username hijacking; tres chic or no bueno? |

Reading through some recent posts it seems there are a few hijacked usernames being bandied about. I thought it was kinda funny but now I'm wondering if it's cool. One thing I wonder about is are the original owners in danger of being misrepresented?
Hijacked usernames may include;
Bomber pro
Davidn (maybe?)
Simey.
Useful
Eduardo Slabovic
Shortman (hijacking yourself may not count;)
Are there any others people are aware of? And should it be allowed?

I reckon you should add another poll option of 'Who cares' ...
Heh, heh, heh.
Post edit:
I now note you have added;
Miguel should stop being a sooky la-la!
&
I like sea turtles!
Fair enough.
~> I think I will vote for sea turtles!
On a serious note, it seems to me that those engaged in the game of user-id swapping may or may not be fully aware of the consequences of their actions when they start playing that game as it can have lasting consequences, ie they end up losing their original ID...
I note Eduardo slabofvic now has an '.' at the end of his user-id in order to 'reclaim it' from stugang. 'Stugang' seems to be in abeyance, as it may be one of the other Id's you refer to?
'davidn' has now become 'Useful', which was stugangs most recent ID before he usurped bomber pro.
~> Who knows where it will end up? Who cares? It is all interesting??
Heh, heh, heh.
Post edit:
I now note that shortman has become Miguel76 ... !
~> The trend continues!!

My mate sent me the very amusing video ages ago, which I accidentally misquoted in the poll:(
Some people may not worry about their username being hijacked. I personally don't think it should be allowed because 1; it can then be used to misrepresent the original owner of the username; 2, previous posts may not make much sense & 3, it's not cool!

It's not that bad Miguel75. Sometimes it has been bloody funny.

I have changed my user-id along the way over the years.
I started as A5iswhereitsat, then changed to M8iswhereitsat (Aussie equivalent of A5), then changed to Idratherbeclimbing, then changed to IdratherbeclimbingM9.
In all cases, every one of my previous posts automatically changed to my current user-id at the time I changed ID.
~> The only context in which those old posts may not make as much 'sense' is in quoted replies to any posts I made.
To help negate confusion I updated my user-profile accordingly.
I am also aware that most would respond to the whole issue with "Who cares?"
Heh, heh, heh.

How do you know I did that? I might be stugang, pretending to eduardo, pretending to put a dot there while eduardo is away in china, but really Stugang is just Eduardo's Mr Jeckel when he's off the medication that he went to China to get in the first place which makes him think he's Bummer Ho except when He's simey with or without the dot. But then, you'll never let on the real answer because you are actually Simey. and is incapable of telling the truth, where as Simey always tells the truth and there lies the conundrum.

I think a new feature should be implemented where every week all usernames are randomly reallocated.

Miguel - don't lose sleep over it. Swapping chocky usernames is not much different to swapping sleeping partners in Nati - everyone does it as us atheists would rather swap when bored rather than accumulate another. In any case if anyone really really has hurt feelings they should let the person involved know.
You OK with that shorty?

Personally, I think everyone should chose an avatar and stick with it.
And retro, godless, mthrfckr and satan all agree with me.

It's all too confusing to worry about. I voted for turtles but that vid put a new perspective on that option!
