Sting on tantric sex:
I think I mentioned to Bob [Geldof] I could make love for eight hours. What I didn't say was that this included four hours of begging and then dinner and a movie.

Money is the most important thing in the world. It represents health, strength, honor, generosity and beauty as conspicuously as the want of it represents illness, weakness, disgrace, meanness and ugliness.

I'm in the middle of Tom Patey's "One Man's Mountains", and he's got a good old school turn of phrase. Some aren't related to climbing but are worth recounting:
"If you receive no reply to your next letter you will know that I have gone up the Amazon in search of a new species of long-tailed monkey. It promises to be a really interesting project", this is a common problem when looking for a belayer.
"Nature has effective methods of eliminating the unreliable individualist", free-soloists.
And my favourite:
"A route should fill an honest purpose: it should follow a natural line of weakness up a natural obstacle and reach a logical conclusion", ie it should not be a contrived and pointless 10m sport route to lower offs below a 50m choss band.
