actually I only made the offer to either bommer or ODH, in the hope of a bommer or hero style trip report - either would be hilarious for completely different reasons.

Anyway what the fk - if either of those two are too pussy to take up the offer by midnight tonight you can have it. Seriously considering flying up to brisvegas to join in the fun when/if this all goes ahead.

Right, I'm actually interested in doing this. Not promising anything at this stage, but I'm trying to get a w/e organised after Chrissy.

Sorry Mr Peckman, you're gonna have to get in line. No doubt you could do better job of the actual rigging than I can.....but in terms of entertainment bang for the buck, I'm offering a superior product to the Chockstone viewing audience.

I'll refine my answer to either yes or no in a week or so.

Sorry, the geek inside me can't let this one slide (I was cruising through early posts to try and find out where/how high/how wide this inlet is)

Paul has magicked a force doubling from thin air. If each anchor feels 5.7kN, the rope is only feeling 5.7kN...........unless the force dwindles out as it travels down the rope (like electrical resistance perhaps?)

btw, does anyone know where/how high/how wide this inlet is?

What about raising a few bucks by offering a giant poster of Clinton doing the Tyrolean? I'm sure all those people who have ordered the Taipan Super Topo won't mind if their money is redirected to this worthy cause. Imagine receiving a beautiful poster of Clinton gliding to glory on his tyrolean. Of course ODH's trip report would be reproduced on it as well.

"Making Dreams Come True" will be a special limited edition poster personally signed by Clinton and One Day Hero.

simey, if this happens I'm making t shirts. Bugger the expense.

Clinton, disregard the banter and bullshit above, but there are a couple of people here willing to safely help you out for nothing other than a fun and random weekend.

Let us know if you are still interested

You can find the canyon of death here.

2726'6.35"S
15332'44.76"E

I may go for a paddle and have a look, a line right near the entrance could be cool.
Only 70m or so.

I'm sure I can get a hold of some rope that long.

From the many pictures, it looks like you could walk the line across at low tide.
Maybe even able to rig a one way ride flying fox style....

If this traverse goes off before Christmas, it'll be the best Christmas ever.

I'll buy the poster and/or t-shirt, but only if everyone involved follows Clinton's fashion advice contained in his blog - tracksuit pants (with or without cord, but pulled up high) and singlet. Terrytowel hat optional, but it will be summer, so recommended.

well i do have the trakky pants and singlet washed. i havent tried anything yet. i didnt actually get to go to straddie because it rained and my company stuffed up the cancellation and it didnt get cancelled. it would be a lot of fun. IVE UPDATED MY WEBSITE. moved my tyrolean traverse info over on to my private intranet. there will be pictures posted but for the information it was taken down (so some kid doesnt try this at home). im not going to be doing it without proper help. you have my absolute co-operation in this matter. i would rather someone either from my course if they have time to help me. when i do my gorge traverse it will be done with 2 ropes and 2 pulleys and ill check everything over and over again. ill even carry a bucket and a bag to carry all my stuff in. would the weight of my gear actually affect the tyrolean traverse. as in loading. and ill be planning and studying my notes more before i decide on this. i thought about everything and my safety is paramount. it has reached 95 replies. a record for a sensible post. worth every minute. this post has helped me get off my dangerous traverse and up with the help to build one with professionals. i'd like to get it up and with me on it by feburary/march 2012.

By robbing him of his 'solo' experience? Heh, heh, heh.

I can see the Qld sense of humour now. How many Vic-wits does it take to cross a chasm, ~> etc(!) ?

I'm up for February, any weekend other than the one of 18/19th.

Who's in?

ODH?
Shorty?
Peckman? (only if there is $$ or a free static at the end of it?)
simey?

One final question cj....where is the nearest strip club to the gap. ODH is going through a bit of a dry spell at the moment, and some titties might cheer him up.
