Double, twin or single rope ...?

I did forget something. Manufacturers used to recommend that double ropes should be clipped in independently. I used to follow that practise.
If I was clipping into a crucial runner, i'd put two krabs on the runner and clip a rope into each. This reduces the rope-burn problem.

This could happen, but in my trad experience the falls I have had, have loaded both ropes. Certainly there have been instances where one rope took the majority of it, but in every case both ropes ended up taught as bowstrings.

I agree with your 'cinching' comment.
